Halloweentime at Disneyland

Over at Disneyland, one of our favorite ride overlays is back: Haunted Mansion Holiday. This iconic Disneyland ride gets transformed into a Tim Burton wonderland with characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas. This year, the Oogie Boogie Man animatronic got a bit of a glow-up, and Disney just shared a behind-the-scenes look!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — no, not Christmas just yet. It’s Haunted Mansion Holiday time at Disneyland Park! We look forward to this Nightmare Before Christmas ride overlay year after year, and this year, the Oogie Boogie Man animatronic received some upgrades. Imagineers recently shared a behind-the-scenes look on Instagram, which you can check out below!

In the video, Imagineers explain that the old Oogie Boogie animatronic was only able to pulse between two different positions. The upgraded version of the figure features much more animation and smoother movements, which, in turn, makes him look more realistic.

Well, well, well

Haunted Mansion Holiday follows the story of Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas instead of the traditional Haunted Mansion story, so it’s perfect for fans of the film! It’s also why the overlay sticks around for both holidays, as many fans feel that it’s both a Halloween and Christmas film. This way, Disney appeases everyone!

You’ll see other iconic characters as well, like Jack, Sally, and some of your favorite Haunted Mansion characters, as they’ve been revamped for the overlay. Expect long lines for this attraction and pack your patience, because the lines for this ride can get VERY long.
