The Disney Cruise Line is in the process of expanding the entire fleet, and it’s left many Disney fans wondering… why? While we love the cruise line, we didn’t see a ton of demand online for more ships! That being said, Disney is moving forward with the new additions.

The cruise line has expanded quite a bit over the last several years, thanks to the addition of new ships like the Disney Treasure and the upcoming Disney Destiny. The Disney Destiny is making its inaugural sailing in November 2025, and we are one step closer to seeing this major addition hit the open seas. Let’s check out the exciting new update together!
Are you ready for the next major addition to the Disney Cruise Line? We know we are! The Disney Destiny is gearing up for her debut moment, and Disney’s latest update just shows the ship is one step closer to just that. On October 15th, the Disney Destiny formally joined the Disney Cruise Line fleet!

The cruise line hosted a special delivery ceremony in Eemshaven, Netherlands, marking a maritime tradition! It signals the completion of construction and the transfer of ownership from the builder of the ship, Meyer Werft, to the Disney Cruise Line.

The president of Disney Signature Experiences, Joe Schott, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, Sharon Siskie, and Captain Andy McRonald all “accepted” the ship’s delivery. Andy McRonald will lead the ship on a “transatlantic journey” to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the ship’s port is located.

This is a major milestone for the ship, and is a major sign it’s on its way to finally setting sail. The ship is inspired by Disney heroes and villains, and we have been following along with its updates since it was first announced! The new ship will offer 4- and 5-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during its inaugural season, with voyages stopping at one or both of Disney Cruise Line’s destinations — Castaway Cay and the new Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

For Summer 2026 and into 2027, the Destiny will offer 3- to 7-night cruises to The Bahamas as well as the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The Disney Destiny will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, but the heroes and villains theme will be the first of its kind.

You can expect to see new shows, themes, restaurants, and more around the ship, plus characters from famous Disney and Marvel movies. If you want to check out the new ship but planning feels overwhelming, no worries!
