On board the Disney Cruise Line ships, you’ll find an ice cream/sweets shop, and most of them have a special signature sundae to grab that isn’t available on any other ship.
On the Disney Destiny, that shop is Edna Á La Mode Sweets, which is themed to The Incredibles (more specifically, Edna’s lab with Jack-Jack trying to grab his cookie!), and has TONS of sweets to check out. The Signature Sundae here is cute as can be, but is it really worth the price? We tried it out so you can know before you get on board!
The Signature Sundae here is only $12.75 (which is a GREAT deal), and it comes in a plastic Incredibles-themed car with wheels made to look like cookies. We do feel the car is pretty good quality, and since the wheels do turn, you can “drive” the car, if you’d like, and the sundae consists of 3 scoops of ice cream or gelato, 5 toppings, whipped cream, and cherries.
There are truly SO many flavors to choose from when it comes to gelato and ice cream, but we decided to go with Raspberry Macaroon, Lemon Blueberry, and a flavor called Unicorn Vanilla, which is just vanilla but with pink and purple swirled inside.
For our toppings, we went with sprinkles, waffle cone pieces, white chocolate pieces, strawberry combo compote, and mini marshmallows, then the whipped cream and cherry on the very top.
Now, our one complaint here started before we even ate it, which was that instead of having a container inside the car that the ice cream/gelato goes in, to make it easier to take it out and clean the car afterwards, the gelato and toppings were just put directly inside the car. This hasn’t been the case with the other Signature Sundaes we’ve gotten on other Disney Cruises, so we’re unsure if this truly was a design change or perhaps it was a training issue. This did make our car really sticky after we finished the sundae, and it’s pretty hard to clean it when you’re on a cruise, so you have to be careful it doesn’t get any of your other items sticky until you can get off the ship.
As for the taste of the sundae, though, the gelato was incredible! The flavors were strong overall, with each of our flavors in the best way — the Lemon Blueberry had plenty of both flavors, the vanilla was creamy and rich, and the Raspberry Macaroon was almost a little too strong for us, but if you adore raspberry, it’ll be a great fit for you. We loved that we could totally customize what went in here, and that’s really what stands out about it. As for the price, this is a fantastic deal, since one of the scoops of gelato we got would have been $4 on its own, with the other two being $6.50 on their own, so paying just under $13 for this is a steal!
It’s also important to note that if you order the Signature Sundae early in the day, you can have it delivered to your rotational dining restaurant table later in the evening, which is super fun, especially if someone in your party is celebrating something special. This definitely gets the stamp of approval from us, and we can’t recommend it enough for those who love sweet treats.
