Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been closed since October 6th for its annual refurbishment, but that’s all changing soon!
This ride typically closes during the fall so that Disney can do some routine maintenance, and this year was no different. But, we’re happy to report that after a two-month-long closure, Kali River Rapids is finally reopening.
Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will officially reopen on December 12th, per the Disney World website. The ride had been closed since October 6th for a routine refurbishment. Typically, the ride closes during the “colder” months when folks are less likely to want to ride it, being that it is a water ride. But starting on December 12th, the ride will be open again.
There are a lot of changes going on at Animal Kingdom, thanks to a new land, Pueblo Esperanza, that will be replacing DinoLand, U.S.A. Right now, only one ride has remained open in Dinoland, Dinosaur, although it will eventually close as construction progresses.
But, while DinoLand is undergoing a huge change, there’s still plenty to do at Animal Kingdom. You could pet some animals at Conservation Station! Take the Wildlife Express train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and you can do that and so much more. You can even watch Disney’s veterinarians working with some of the wildlife that calls Animal Kingdom home. PLUS, you can learn to draw Disney characters from a real animator.
We’ll be on the lookout for more updates you need to know about from Animal Kingdom and beyond. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
