A Disney World Cast Member was recently injured during a showing of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios and has since been recovering.
The Cast Member stepped out in front of a runaway prop — the boulder that weighs 400 pounds — to prevent it from rolling into the audience. Since then, a modified version of the show has been taking place, so we recently stopped by to check out the changes.
Right now, the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is looking a little different following an incident that caused the large, prop boulder to veer off course and head towards the audience.
The incident occurred during one of the first scenes of the show when the prop boulder begins to roll down a ramp towards Indiana Jones in a recreation of a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The incident was filmed, and footage shows the fake boulder veering off course before bouncing off the ramp towards the crowd.
A Cast Member jumped between the boulder and the audience to stop it from bouncing into the crowd. Disney released a statement shortly after the incident, advising that the Cast Member is recovering and that the boulder element of the show would be modified until the safety team investigates the incident.
We stopped by the attraction over the weekend to see the modifications, and can confirm that, for now, the boulder is not rolling down the hill toward Indy, and is instead being held at the end of the cave, where it typically ends up at the end of the sequence. The rest of the show appeared to be operating normally, with many of the stunts we know and love.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular update 🚨🎬
A Cast Member says the boulder stunt is currently cut until Disney’s safety team signs off, no timeline yet. The boulder is still visible on set in its usual end spot, just not rolling for now! pic.twitter.com/LkM6uPkQdO— Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) January 5, 2026
According to a Cast Member leader we spoke with, the boulder will remain out of the show until the safety team signs off on its return. However, there is no estimated timeline for when this might take place. The leader said they will likely find out just before it happens, so for now, we’ll have to keep checking on it until it returns.
Our thoughts are with the Cast Member who stepped out in front of the boulder and are wishing them a speedy recovery!
