I don’t think I’ve EVER been this excited for this update in Hollywood Studios. We’ve been keeping track of all the updates coming to Walt Disney Studios, and this might be the ultimate update of all time.
The area is set to open on May 26th, but they just shared a sneak peek that has us wishing it opened tomorrow. If you’re a fan of classic Hollywood Studios (or uh, Disney–MGM Studios), you’re just going to love this.
The sorcerer hat is back in Hollywood Studios!
Welcome home, sorcerer hat!
We knew the hat was coming since the concept art was released, but it doesn’t mean seeing that picture wasn’t a childhood dream come true. For those of you too young to remember, there used to be a massive sorcerer hat in Hollywood Studios, but it was removed in 2015.
It’s returning to the land since it’s themed to the Animation Studios in Burbank, California — home to the iconic sorcerer hat.
Also coming to the land will be drawing classes hosted by none other than Olaf. He’ll have help from real Disney animators, and you’ll get step-by-step instructions on how to draw your favorite Disney characters.
There will also be plenty of character meet and greets, including some in different areas of the animation studio.
Personally, I’m excited for the indoor playground, which is themed to Mary Blair’s original concept art for Alice in Wonderland. You can learn a lot of things from the flowers, and we’re going to learn lots about animation and playing in this area!
The land opens on May 26th, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news to help you plan the best Disney World vacation ever.

It’s Mary Blair.
Too bad this is a cheap replica of the hat. Disney really has no idea how screwed up this is for everyone who remembers the original. Hiw can anyone be happy to see this crappy replica?
I’m from Spain and I went when I was single in 2010 and now I’ll be back with my husband and children and it’s now when I find out that they had removed Mickey’s shading. A shame because the previous one was prettier
This is a horrible replica. Looks like a cheap cone birthday hat. 🙁 Come on Disney, at least pretend you care about your fans.
I disagree with Carol. The giant hat wasn’t original to the park, just erected for “100 years of Magic”, but left up too long. It blocked the sightline to the Chinese Theater when you entered the park.
Hi Shell! This entire building (hat included) is intended to be an homage to the Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California. It is a replica of that building because it’s going to house an animation experience.
