This NEW Addition Will Make Disney World’s Walt Disney Studios Even BETTER

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is transforming right before our eyes! Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, featuring new missions and characters, debuts on May 22nd, and Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring The Muppets opens on May 26th. All this, and Monsters Inc. Land is under construction!

On top of that, the brand-new Walt Disney Studios courtyard has officially started opening in phases, with a full opening on May 26th. The new area is going to feature a ton of experiences, meet-and-greets, and more, including new music!

Disney World Set To Replace 6 Long-Abandoned Buildings with New Experiences in Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park is in a state of transformation, with massive projects under construction on both sides of the park: Monsters, Inc. Land on the park’s western edge and the new Walt Disney Studios Lot in the former Animation Courtyard area.

Both of these projects are reusing or replacing buildings that date back to the park’s original Disney-MGM Studios days, meaning that they are nearly 40 years old at this point.

The sorcerer hat has officially been installed in, and we just learned there are new Disney character handprints all around the land. Walt Disney Studios is set to open on May 26th, and it seems Disney is putting the final touches on the area.

We’ve got BIG news for fans of Disney animation! A brand new area is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: get ready to step into The Walt Disney Studios when it opens in the latter part of Summer 2026!

In July 2025, Disney announced that the area currently known as Animation Courtyard will be reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios as a “special nod to the legendary Walt Disney Studios Lot” in Burbank, California. We’ve been keeping an eye on updates for this new land, and now we have even more details — including a drawing class taught by… Olaf?! Let’s get into it!
