Disney Shows Off NEW Monsters Coming to Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios!

There might be no one more excited for Monstropolis to come to Hollywood Studios than me! This has been one of my favorite Disney movies, and when I heard that Muppets Courtyard was closing, I shed a few tears and said hello to Monsters, Inc.!

We’re out in Anaheim, California for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event from August 14th through the 16th — but we showed up a little early for a special media preview where Disney just gave us a sneak peek of the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. Hold onto your hard hats — this is going to be good!

6 Huge Disney World Announcements Could Be Coming This Week

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is coming up THIS week, and that means we are ready to celebrate all things Disney with Disney and other Disney fans. This event is jam-packed with SO much to see and do, including a LOT of shopping, as well as a ton of booths, exhibits, celebrity appearances, and panels.

Now, one panel we’re REALLY excited about is the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday night, which is where we’ll learn more about what’s coming to the theme parks and Disney Cruise Line. NEW Changes Spotted During Construction at Monsters, Inc. Land in Disney World

If you’ve visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, you’ve probably noticed quite a bit of construction happening in the park. First, Animation Courtyard is being reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios, although part of that project has already opened to the public. Then, the old Muppets Courtyard is being reimagined into Monstropolis, a Monsters, Inc.-themed land.

Disney World Quietly Files New Permit For Monstropolis

A LOT is going on in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s all pretty exciting stuff! Not only did The Muppets take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (and we are LOVING it), but Animation Courtyard is getting a brand new look that will reimagine it into The Walt Disney Studios — and even part of it is now open (and it’s EPIC).

Well, another big happening is that Disney World is building a new Monsters, Inc. land called Monstropolis (appropriately enough) that will include a roller coaster based on the doors scene in the first movie (y’all, we are STOKED), as well as some kind of theatrical show in a building known as the Glob Theater. Well, Disney just filed a permit for the Glob Theater location, showing that this project is moving right along.

Disney World’s New Monstropolis Coaster Has Taken A BIG Step Forward!

So many new lands are currently in progress in Disney World, with one of the biggest being Monstropolis in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The land is taking over the former Muppets Courtyard, and we’ve been following along closely with construction since the beginning to see how it’s all been coming along. The new coaster coming to the land is to be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster, and based on what we’ve seen so far, it’s going to be BIG, and that’s only being confirmed by these new photos we just got of its status.
