We’re getting SO excited for Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, the newest hotel coming to Disney World.

This resort is set to open in summer 2027 and is going to be a Disney Vacation Club property on the edge of Bay Lake, near Magic Kingdom. It’s themed to combine Disney magic with nature, and so far, the concept art we’ve seen is STUNNING. But with the latest batch of updates, it looks like something has changed with the hotel lobby.
We’re just starting to gear up for Halloween in Disney World, and any day now, we’re expecting to see Halloween decor go up in Magic Kingdom (and we can hardly wait). The first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be here soon, along with special fall and Halloween snacks. Pumpkin spice latte season is almost here.
New Year’s Eve fireworks
Although we’ve started briefly thinking about the holidays in Disney World, we haven’t given much thought to the New Year. However, Disney World has, and the first 2027 souvenir has officially made an appearance in the parks.
If you’re planning a Disney World vacation for 2027, there are some changes you’ll want to note!
Magic Kingdom
A lot is happening at Disney World in 2027, and Magic Kingdom will be no different. With ongoing construction for Piston Peak and the new Villains land, construction walls are up, and other rides are going to be closed for refurbishment. If you’re planning to spend time at this Disney World park, you’ll want to follow these new rules.
While it may seem like 2026 just began, the reality is the year’s halfway over and many Disney World guests are already planning their trips for 2027…including selecting their hotel.

However, some Disney guests are skipping a few of the resort’s most popular hotels next year.

When it comes to choosing when to visit the “Most Magical Place on Earth” in 2027, the resort will never be “empty,” and there’s not even an “off-season” in the traditional sense anymore, but there are definitely weeks that are comparatively “lighter” than others.
Since its 2012 opening, the Art of Animation Resort has become one of Walt Disney World’s most popular resorts.

The Value Tier Resort combines similar aesthetics to its brethren – large icon statues connecting an interlocking series of themed buildings – while featuring a unique room layout. The hotel’s Little Mermaid buildings feature standard hotel rooms, while Art of Animation’s Cars, Finding Nemo, and Lion King areas, instead feature family suites. However, big changes are coming to those rooms in 2027, and in turn, some Disney World guests are rethinking their plans for the year.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is being built as we speak, and Disney recently announced that this Disney Vacation Club Resort will officially open in summer 2027. Lakeshore Lodge is located in the former home of Disney’s River Country water park near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. While some Disney fans are excited by the possibilities that come with a new hotel, others are already disappointed in it.
For the first time since the Riviera Resort opened back in 2019, a BRAND-NEW Resort is set to open at Walt Disney World next year, and guests are reworking their plans to see it.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, a long-in-development resort, which will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists,” is currently under construction on the former site of the River Country water park near the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
One of Disney World’s most popular hotel perks is going to be unavailable this coming January, and that’s having us rethink stays at these four hotels.
Pop Century
Since its opening in 2019, the Skyliner gondola system has become one of Disney’s most popular transportation methods, linking EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with the Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, and the Riviera Resort. However, the service will be closed for a period early next year.
We love seeing special events happen in the Disney parks, especially when they get so many people involved!
