Magic Kingdom is a hotbed of activity right now — let’s just say, there’s a lot going on. For starters, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad just recently reopened with a ton of new changes, as did Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
Meanwhile, an entire new Villains land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, while Frontierland is getting a Cars expansion. Well, now, a Magic Kingdom restaurant has closed to make way for something new. Yep, Diamond Horseshoe has officially closed.
On May 26th, Cool Kids Summer returns to Disney World, including Magic Kingdom. As part of this year’s Cool Kids Summer, a new experience is coming to the Diamond Horseshoe, which is why it’s closed. The restaurant is being transformed into Jessie’s Roundup, a new experience with a Toy Story theme. That means the restaurant has to close while Disney transforms the space.
The doors are locked now, so this restaurant is officially closed.
However, the menu was still up. We’re not sure if this will be removed or not while
The Diamond Horseshoe will convert into an experience where kids can craft, dance, and have other kinds of fun inside a nice air-conditioned space (and we can imagine, this might also be a good respite for parents, too). We don’t have a lot of details about what else will be available at Jessie’s Roundup, nor do we know if any kind of food or snacks will be offered.
Cool Kids Summer will last through September 8th, at which time, it seems The Diamond Horseshoe will convert back into a restaurant. In the meantime, you’ll still be able to get the same menu at Liberty Tree Tavern (the two restaurants share a menu), so if you’re craving that holiday-like meal, you can still get it at Liberty Tree Tavern (which is highly popular, so you might want to make reservations ahead of time).
Cool Kids Summer will also feature scheduled character appearances at Disney World hotels, character meet-and-greets at Early Theme Park Entry, and more. You’ll want to check out everything it has to offer here.
We’ll keep an eye out for more changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
