A LOT is going on in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s all pretty exciting stuff! Not only did The Muppets take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (and we are LOVING it), but Animation Courtyard is getting a brand new look that will reimagine it into The Walt Disney Studios — and even part of it is now open (and it’s EPIC).
Well, another big happening is that Disney World is building a new Monsters, Inc. land called Monstropolis (appropriately enough) that will include a roller coaster based on the doors scene in the first movie (y’all, we are STOKED), as well as some kind of theatrical show in a building known as the Glob Theater. Well, Disney just filed a permit for the Glob Theater location, showing that this project is moving right along.
The Glob Theater is taking over the location that was previously Muppet*Vision 3D before Muppets Courtyard was closed to make way for Monstropolis. Disney filed a permit on July 8th for the theater’s location for electrical work, with the contractor listed as Elite A/V System.
Elite A/V Systems specializes in creating cutouts for electrical things like connectors, pushbuttons, and ventilation. It also makes tailored modifications for electrical systems. This contractor has worked on many of Disney’s projects in Disney World when they needed electrical infrastructure. So, basically, progress on the Glob Theater is coming along.
Disney has not yet confirmed what kind of attraction the Glob Theater will host, but we can guess that it’s some sort of theatrical show kind of thing based on the fact that it’s a theater. The name is a take on the Globe Theatre in London, a world-famous theatre known for putting on Shakespearean productions, so might this be a live show of some sort? Monstropolis will also feature Harryhausen’s, based on a restaurant in Monsters, Inc. Disney has also teased an ice cream shop of some kind.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details and reveals about Monstropolis, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
