Part of what makes Disney’s theme parks so special has always been their cross-generational appeal. After all, according to legend, part of Walt Disney’s drive to build Disneyland was to have a place where parents and children could have fun together. However, while the parks do bring different generations together, those generations also have their own VERY distinct opinions, as we recently learned yet again.
Recently, we took to our Facebook page to ask our readers, “What’s a Disney trend that you HATE??” We also requested that they not hold back in the comments, and y’all certainly listened.
Let’s begin with a relatively nice one, as reader Alicia backed up our above point about cross-generational appeal, writing, “The myth that ‘Disney is just for kids.’ Walt built the parks for people of all ages!”
Reader Stephen brought up some issues with younger guests, writing, “Recording the entire show on your phone, kids on shoulders for fireworks, and stopping multiple times to take a selfie in queues.”
Christy took a similar issue with technology users in the park, writing, “Visitors walking with their phones stretched out in front of themselves, experiencing everything through the camera screen. Take 5 or 6 photos of your group, then put the phone away and BE PRESENT. You don’t need people to get out of your way so you can get a picture of the entrance to “it’s a small world”. You can find that image online, along with ten billion other photos and videos of Disney doors, windows, signs, etc. There is a new walk-through video of every park on YouTube just about every day. You don’t have to spend the whole vacation documenting.”
Reader Kaitie took aim at those who drink alcohol in the parks, writing in part, “Drinking around the world, bar crawls, etc. While many adults can and do drink responsibly, there are so many who clearly can’t. Share your drinks, have a snack INSTEAD of a drink, have a mocktail. Doing these things does not mean you “cheated” on your bar crawl, it means you stand less chance of becoming an obnoxious, or worse, aggressive, guest.”
Kathy, who identified themselves as a Cast Member, shared, “…people who don’t respect our wildlife. People who let their children jump at or chase any of our wildlife. Newsflash-that’s their home. I have names for all the wildlife at my work location. I will protect them. Even the bird that pooped on my lip.”
Other topics that were mentioned by numerous readers included influencers, pin traders, “most expensive day ever” shirts, guests who loudly recite preshow or ride dialogue, queue jumpers, Crocs, and guests who engage in “Pixie-Dusting” — AKA the act of gifting other guests small trinkets, etc.
Let’s wrap up with reader Bridget, who took a different tack, writing, “I love it all! I like everyone to have their own fun as long as their fun doesn’t interfere with mine.”
These are just some of the literal thousands of responses we received. If you’re interested in sharing your thoughts on this, or any other Disney or travel-related topic, follow us on the DFB Facebook to join in on the next conversation!

The bubble wands can be annoying. We were hit with so many bubbles on one park day my husband said, “Does this count for taking a shower?”
People holding places in line that are then later joined by numerous friends. It’s almost always a group of teenagers.
I will agree many of the complaints seem reasonable, but one surprised me; Pixie Dusting. This is the first time I’ve heard of either the term or the practice, which seems rather sweet and very Disney. Could I hear some reasons why some object to the practice? Thank you all and may everyone have a Great Big Beautiful Tommorow!
Manners!! I think an abundance of people were absent the day manners were taught!! I want to go up to them and ask if they were raised in a barn!! Ridiculous rudeness!!
Absolutely agree with the bubble wands. I get that they’re keeping your kids busy and therefore your kids aren’t annoying you, but they are annoying everyone else with the constant stream of bubbles. If my kids are going to annoy someone, I prefer it to be me rather than everybody around us.
I agree with a lot of these. I took a little offense to Crocs though LOL. They are one of the few shoes which don’t hurt my feet, so I know they aren’t “cute”, but they minimize my pain and allow me to walk, so they are a must for me. Bubble wands don’t bother me, I love them. I would say the two biggest annoyances for me are loud people, being loud for no reason especially, and people who stop in the middle of walkways.
I too am surprised at the Pixie dusting thing being an issue. I don’t do it, I don’t think I’ve seen it, and I’ve only ever been given things in the parks by Cast Members. Maybe people get mad because someone gives something to one person and not another? If someone offers you something you don’t want, you can always say “no thank you” or toss it out or give it to someone else. I don’t get it lol.
