I’ve been flying for over 30 years, and there have been many times when I’ve held my breath, hoping that my carry-on bag fits into the metal sizer at the gate and won’t need to be checked last minute. Can you relate? If so, fret not, as those days will soon be over for both of us… at least on American Airlines. Like fellow carrier United did several years ago, American is eliminating the sizers and moving to a new system.
There are few things more frustrating while traveling than having to go through your bags last minute to remove items that aren’t allowed to be stored in their carry-on luggage.

If we’re flying to Disney World instead of driving, we try to just bring a carry-on bag rather than a suitcase that we’d need to check. That way, we don’t have to wait for our suitcases after disembarking the plane, and there’s no worrying about lost luggage. One of our favorite carry-on bags is this $34 backpack from Amazon!
