Earlier this week, we discussed a frequently asked question we have received here at DFB regarding the temporary closure of Walt Disney World due to concerns over the Coronavirus: “Will Disney World really re-open April 1st?”
Guests who will be at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel over the next few days before the hotels are closed on March 20, 2020 at 5:00 PM due to concerns over the Coronavirus will want to be advised of some additional changes which will also take place this week.
According to the Walt Disney World website, “All Disney transportation will be suspended beginning the morning of Wednesday, March 18, 2020 through the end of the month.” (Please note that Disney’s Magical Express will continue to transport guests to and from the airport through March 20.) UPDATE: While Disney was exempt from the recommendation, Disneyland has officially announced that the parks will temporarily close beginning March 14th. The resorts will close beginning on March 16th. And Downtown Disney will remain open for the time being. Learn more about the closure here.
It was announced Thursday morning that Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, has recommended the canceling of gatherings of 250 or more people.
A few industries and institutions received special exemptions from this order, notably the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
