9 Truly Unhinged Things I’ve Seen Kids Do in Disney World

Disney World does something to children. Maybe it’s the heat, or the sugar, or the fact that they woke up at 5:47 AM because their parents watched every “rope drop” video on YouTube and have been operating on caramel apples and adrenaline ever since. Whatever the reason, spend enough time in Disney World, and eventually you will see a child do something so spectacularly strange that you have to stop, stare, and briefly wonder about all of the factors that brought you to this moment.

And listen, kids are kids. They’re curious and creative, and their impulse control is still under construction. Sometimes the weird thing they’re doing is completely harmless and objectively hilarious. Other times, you find yourself wondering why somebody is licking the Haunted Mansion queue. Yes, licking. Why Disney World Will Never Fix Your Biggest Hotel Complaint

If you spend enough time reading comments from Disney World hotel guests, you start to notice a theme. The beds? Debatable. The latest room design? Everyone has an opinion. But one complaint follows Disney Resort guests around with remarkable consistency: the noise.

This room is missing something

People hear kids running down hallways. Doors slamming. Toilets flushing. Conversations next door. Families coming back from Magic Kingdom at midnight. Families leaving for Early Entry when you would prefer that 6:15 AM not exist on vacation. And every time Disney refurbishes another hotel, it feels reasonable to ask the same question: Can they PLEASE fix the soundproofing while they’re in there? Unfortunately, that is much harder than changing the carpet.

Why We’re Booking a 7 PM Dinner Reservation in EPCOT

There are plenty of reasons to buy a ticket to EPCOT After Hours. Shorter waits for rides? Yes. Fewer people standing between us and another spin on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? Absolutely. Included Mickey Bars? We have never been known to turn down ice cream. But if you’re planning to attend EPCOT After Hours, there’s one reservation we’re making before we start strategizing our ride order.

Dinner. At 7 PM. That might seem like a strange way to begin an event that’s largely about squeezing as much as possible into a few very expensive hours. But hear us out, because eating dinner right when you enter EPCOT might actually help you get MORE out of your After Hours ticket.

We spend a LOT of time comparing Disney World parks. Magic Kingdom has the classics. Animal Kingdom has the atmosphere. Hollywood Studios has some of the biggest rides. And EPCOT has enough snacks to turn “walking around the park” into an all-day competitive sport.
