On August 7th, 2024, Disney held its earnings call for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024. This is usually when we get some major reveals about how the company is doing financially when it comes to theme parks, Disney+, and more. And, according to Disney’s CFO, the latest price increases on streaming will be to thank for that.
2024 has been an interesting year for the Disney theme parks, with lots of changes made and new experiences opened in recent months. But has it all paid off?

Within recent months, we’ve seen CommuniCore Hall open in EPCOT, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure open in Magic Kingdom, Genie+ transformed into Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and more. On August 7th, Disney held its earnings call (and released its earnings report) for Q3 of fiscal year 2024 and now we can see just how the parks are doing from a financial perspective (and what that might mean for the future of the parks).

Disney released its earnings report for the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year and held an earnings call to discuss the report. We heard some updates about Disney’s theme parks, how the company is doing financially as a whole, and some news on its entertainment division. Improving streaming and Disney+ is a “number on priority,” according to Bob Iger, CEO of the company, and unfortunately, prices will be increasing.

During the Q3 earnings call for 2022, Disney revealed that it increased revenue for the Parks, Experiences, and Products division by $4.3 BILLION compared to the same quarter in 2021. What led to the increase? A number of things, including higher guest spending. That higher guest spending in Q3 was due to higher average daily hotel room rates and Genie+ and Lightning Lanes. We’ve also seen increased prices for food and sneaky ticket price increases too. But could things in the parks be getting even MORE expensive soon?
