Best Disney World Restaurants for Fish Fry

With Lent on the horizon — and with a few questions from readers recently about where to get a great fish fry in Disney World — I knew that now would be the perfect time to check out the best places to find that golden battered goodness at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Let’s check out some of the best fried fish in Disney World

United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot

You can’t go wrong for fish and chips in the delicacy’s home pavilion in Epcot.

Whether you take a load off at the Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room or grab some fried food to go from Yorkshire County Fish Shop, you’re in for a mild but authentic taste of one of England’s best exports.

While you’re there, enjoy a beer and a performance by The British Revolution or the Pub’s Hat Lady.

Cookes of Dublin and Raglan Road in Downtown Disney

If you find yourself in need of a fish fix while you’re “Downtown,” head over to the Pleasure Island District for two authentic and delicious options. The One & One at Cookes of Dublin is one of our favorites on property.

Cooked to order and served piping hot, the fish is flaky and tender.

But if you have the time for a slower meal, you may want to consider the famous beer battered fish and chips on the lunch menu at Raglan Road Irish Pub right next door.

Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom

Here in Liberty Square, you can enjoy a counter service battered fish basket with broccoli, apples, or French fries at Columbia Harbour House counter service restaurant. The proportion of breading to fish is perfect, and the fish isn’t too oily.

Citricos at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

For a slightly more upscale take on the English classic, take a monorail ride to the Grand Floridian and pull up a chair at Citricos. There, you should order the melt-in-your-mouth pan-fried Florida black grouper, which gets rave reviews from Disney Food Blog readers. Keep an eye on the side dishes, though; they change with the seasons and sometimes contain sausage.

Trail’s End at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

You may find this a little surprising, but we found a great Lent-friendly option on the a la carte lunch menu at Trail’s End: pan fried catfish currently served with coleslaw and corn and chive hush puppies.

The cornmeal breading on the fish adds a unique texture to the otherwise moist, flaky fish.

There are lots of other spots to get your fried fish fix in Walt Disney World, including a fried fish and sweet potato fries on the lunch menu at Whispering Canyon Café in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge; fried fish meals at ABC Commissary in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Turf Club Bar and Grill at Saratoga Springs Resort, and Captain’s Grille at Yacht Club Resort; and fried clams, shrimp, and cod on the buffet line at Cape May Café in Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

    AJ, I agree with your commentary. The Yorkshire County Fish Shop does the fish very well plus it goes down even better with a pint of Bass Ale. All things considered, the fish at Columbia Harbour House is respectable. Alas, I have never had the fried fish at Raglan Road, but I did partake in the consumption of several palate pleasing beverages.

    My DIl and grandson have really enjoyed the Gluten Free Fish and Chips at Raglan Road. A large order, they also have Gluten Free fried Calamari.

    I had the fish n’ chips at Cookes of Dublin for the first time in October. The fish was nice and flaky and had very little oil. It was great with a nice dash of vinegar.

    Love the fish & chips from Cooke’s … a MUST on every Disney sojourn … but … I gotta throw down on my hands-down favorite option …

    Potato Wrapped Red Snapper from the Flying Fish Cafe … holy yum!!

    I crave the fish & chips! When I am looking for a cheap, fresh and fast fish option you can’t go wrong. Plus the Rose & Crown is such a fun place once you’re done, I always make a special stop there. I wish I was able to make fish and chips as good at home…sigh.

    Oh, how we love the fish and chips at the Rose and Crown, espcially when we can sit and listen to the Hat Lady sing. However, best fish and chips in all of WDW is the offering at Cookes of Dublin. I’m definately stopping there when we visit again next month!

    I second the review on the gluten-free fish and chips at Raglan Road – so good! They had a few options that sounded good but I couldn’t pass up the chance to have fish and chips!

    I had the fish at Cookes of Dublin in December and loved it. It was so good that we went back a few days later and I had there battered hamburger which was just as good. What I love about this place is the fact they cook your food to order. I can’t wait to go again next month.

    As much as I like Yorkshire county I really miss Harry Ramsdens that was there years ago. They used to serve proper chips and it tasted much more English. Its all in the chips, the fish just isn’t the same on its own.
