WOW!! We ate A LOT of food!!
Hey, they don’t call it the most wonderful time of year for nothing! 😉 We LOVE eating our way around the Disney parks and the holidays brought about an avalanche of new treats and eats in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Well, we tried A LOT of them — 101 to be exact. It’s a hard job, but someone’s gotta do it. So, now that we’re pretty much experts on the Disneyland Resort holiday food scene, we’re here to tell you our absolute favorite holiday choices!
There’s a ton of awesome holiday options in Disneyland Resort and we’ve picked out which ones made us feel like we were walking in a winter wonderland! So, in no particular order, here are our faves!
We still can’t get over this one. Drinkable. Churros. BOOM. (That’s the sound of our minds being blown!) A GENIUS IDEA!!! This shake is a must-drink with brown sugar cinnamon ice cream, cinnamon churro cereal, whipped topping, and a piece of that sweet, sweet, heavenly churro toffee. Oh yeah, you read that right. CHURRO TOFFEE. If you’ve never had it, you don’t even know what delicious is.
Okay, maybe you do. But, seriously churro toffee is a revelation and we’d eat it for every meal if nobody stopped us so essentially liquifying it just made it way easier for us to permanently have to wear stretchy pants. The Churro Shake can be found at Schmoozies! in California Adventure for $7.49.
Award Wieners is one of the best places to find a good hot dog in California Adventure and we never pass on a chance to try out a new fry topper on their iconic Filmstrip Fries. The fries are awesome because of their thickness and shape and they’re perfect for holding up heavy toppings like the ones on the Cheesy “Corn” Fries!
Just LOOK at these babies!! The fries are a real showstopper with Corn-Cheese Sauce, Chile-Lime-dusted Corn Fritters, Pickled Fresno Chiles and Cilantro. We can’t get them out of our heads! The corn fritters alone are the size of a full appetizer! This is a pretty hefty portion so they work as a meal or are great to share. You can pick them up at Award Wieners for $8.99.
There are a bunch of new churros in Disneyland for the season (Churros…in Disneyland? You don’t say!), and you know we had to give them all a taste! After all, the Disneyland churro is a hands-down classic! A few of the holiday churros made our faves list and the first one is the Peppermint Churro! This thing is as delicious as it is messy so grab some napkins and CHOW DOWNNNN.
The Peppermint Churro is a classic churro with chocolate sauce, vanilla icing, and crushed candy canes and we’re drooling just thinking about it. We spotted this churro at the Redwood Creek Trail Churro Cart for $6.25. It’s a good way to get into the holiday spirit, all while savoring a Disneyland classic… And trying to keep your hands clean!
Let’s switch gears back to another savory option with the Holiday Stuffing Mac and Cheese. This mac is one of the MANY dishes available at California Adventure Festival of Holidays and it’s easily one of the best. First of all… it tastes as good as it sounds. Stuffing? Check. Mac and cheese? Check, What more could you want?? It’s just delicious carbs on top of delicious carbs wrapped in a cheesy hug!
This mac and cheese is available at the Favorite Things marketplace for the Festival of Holidays and you can nab it for $7.75. But FYI, we loved literally ALL of the options at Favorite Things and this was just one of them so don’t be afraid to make a meal out of your visit to this marketplace. You won’t be disappointed!!
Fans of savory rejoice because another awesome savory option has made our faves list! Check out the Burnt Ends Grilled Cheese! This sammie is a cheesy combo of brisket burnt ends with a barbecue Coca Cola sauce, pickles, and ALL THE CHEESE. YUM. This thing is SUPER filling and delicious with that awesome tender brisket. Still got room? Oh yea, there’s perfect, crispy, salty tots and a crock of beans to knock back as well.
The Burnt Ends Grilled Cheese can be found at River Belle Terrace for $23. Yeah, sure it’s a little pricey for a sandwich but it comes with A LOT. Plus, did we mention it’s delicious?
If how much we love A Nightmare Before Christmas is any indication, combining two holidays can make for some serious masterpieces. Well, we found one of those tasty creations in Disneyland this season with the Thanks-mas Sandwich. This sandwich is a DELISH collision of classic flavors from Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with oven-roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce between two slices of rustic bread.
We love leftover sandwiches after Christmas and Thanksgiving and this guy is just like one of those! It will seriously put you in the holiday mood so just head on over to Jolly Holiday Bakery and grab one for $10.99.
Ok, this one takes a minute to wrap your head around. Pumpkin spice AND cheesecake AND funnel cake? Wait, wait, wait… That sounds pretty darn good! You can find this at the Hungry Bear Restaurant for $8.99 and it is HUGE.
The Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Funnel Cake is classic funnel cake topped with pumpkin pie cheesecake mousse, graham cracker streusel and crumbles, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. This treat kind of had to battle it out to make it on this list for a few reasons… One reporter felt like this had a strange blend of sticky, creamy, and crunchy, which took away from the flavors of the funnel cake.
While another reporter didn’t experience a texture issue and said that this was one of their FAVORITE holiday sweets of the season! They felt like the pumpkin pie cheesecake mousse was the perfect addition to sit on top of this massive funnel cake treat, therefore, the good outweighed the bad (I mean it’s a Pumpkin spice Cheesecake Funnel Cake, how could it not?!) and made it on our top list! But you guys should try it out and let us know your thoughts!!
Okay, if you’ve seen anything about this churro you know that we can’t get enough of it! Come on! Pecan pie in churro form? Drop that mic, Disney! We’ve called the Pecan Pie Churro next-level and with good reason. This sweet treat is topped with maple glaze, chocolate drizzle, and toasted pecans. You know what that means: sticky AND delicious!
This one is BY FAR our favorite holiday churro in Disneyland this year and easily slides into our fave holiday treats overall. It’s shown up as a part of the Festival of Holidays at Willie’s Churros for $6.25 and is definitely the limited-time churro that you DON’T want to miss!
Thank goodness this burger isn’t actually forbidden because it is too good to pass up. We stopped by Red Rose Taverne to try out their holiday specials and one really caught our eye (and filled our stomachs)! For $16.49, the Beast’s Forbidden Pastrami Burger is pretty fairly priced considering the absolute mountain of food you recieve!
The sandwich is made with an angus beef patty topped with uncured wagyu pastrami and a spicy mustard aioli. We can’t get it out of our heads! Add on a skewered tomato, pepperoni, and a pepperoncini on top, and this thing looks like a crazy good meal. Disney burgers can be iffy but this one is SO SO SO very good!
Last but certainly not least is the Gingerbread Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich. Brown sugar cinnamon ice cream is sandwiched between two gingerbread cookies and rolled in ginger snap cookies! That’s a lot of ginger, but even those who aren’t huge ginger fans might like this treat because the ice cream does a lot to balance it!
You can nab this sandwich for yourself at Schmoozies! for $4.49 so super cheap for a holiday special!
Bonus! Candy Cane Beignets
And as a bonus we have to mention a classic favorite! Candy Cane Beignets can be found at the Mint Julep Bar and are too good to pass up every time we’re in the park during the holidays. These treats are minty, fluffy, and delicious! It’s $5.49 for a three-pack and $8.99 for a six-pack.
See the hard work we do for you guys! 😉 It was a hard choice narrowing down to JUST these goodies, but these holiday snacks are definitely must-haves! Be sure to grab them while you can this holiday season!!
