In order to make sure you hear everything we hear, I created this Disney Food News Pinboard to capture the bits and pieces of information we receive through the grapevine.
I’m so grateful for all of the tidbits of info that I hear from readers and friends — I rely on you guys to be eyes and ears for the DFB since I’m in Texas. If you hear a piece of Disney Food News, please pass it along to us via twitter, facebook, or email so that we can post it either on the Blog or on the Pinboard!

Here are some news tidbits that we don’t have a full post about on the site, but that are important to know for your next Disney vacation!
Disneyland’s Carnation Cafe Re-Opens June 13: Carnation Cafe will re-open June 13 with additional seating including indoor tables. Chef Oscar returns with an updated menu that highlights comfort foods and some of Walt’s fave dishes. According to Disney Parks Blog, the popular Oscar’s Choice (two eggs, breakfast potatoes and biscuit with bacon) returns. Or opt for the new chicken-apple sausage links. Other new items include, apple-granola pancakes, huevos ranchero, and a spinach-and-egg white frittata. For lunch and dinner, the baked potato soup returns, with the addition of meatloaf, chicken fried chicken breast, green chile cheeseburger, and a vegan burger.
Popular items not returning to the menu – Croissant Benedict, Cinnamon Roll French Toast, and Chicken Pot Pie – will be absolutely missed!

Kids Eat Free Offer at Disney’s Aulani: The Hawaiian paradise of Disney’s Aulani resort is offering a Kids Eat Free package when booked now through July 14 for resort stays August 29 – November 3. Kids 3-9 can enjoy free meals from the Kids Menu during breakfast, lunch, and dinner at participating counter-service and table-service restaurants.
Poolside Ice Cream at Saratoga Springs Resort: Adjacent to the Grandstand leisure pool at the Saratoga Springs Resort, the Backstretch Pool Bar is now offering soft serve ice cream. Enjoy a cone, sundae, or float! Source: DVCNews
Trolley Treats Brings Sweets to Disney California Adventure: Disney California Adventure will open Trolley Treats, a new confectionery store on Buena Vista Street June 15th. The gourmet candy makers will entice guests with concoctions such as hand-pulled taffy, caramel apples, and fudge. Look in the window for a model of Rock Candy Mountain! Source: DisneyParks Blog
New Chef at Mama Melrose’s: According to the DisneyParks Blog, Chef Beatriz Candelario has moved from the Cape May Cafe to Mama Melrose’s bringing her love for garlic to some of the new dishes. The seafood cioppino, Gnocchi, and tiramisù semifreddo were created by Candelario’s team.
Epcot’s Cool Wash Pizza Closed: Cool Wash Pizza has been removed from its location near Test Track. No information on whether this is a permanent closure or temporary while Test Track is closed. Source: WDWMagic
Palo High Tea Discontinues: Disney Cruise Line will discontinue high tea at Palo aboard the DCL ships this summer. Effective dates are: July 22 Disney Dream; August 10 Disney Magic; August 13 Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy. Source: WDWInfo
Land Pavilion Will Stay Open til 10 pm: In an effort to accommodate new crowd patterns caused by the recent closure of Test Track, on a trial basis Epcot will keep open all 3 Land attractions and the Grab ‘n Go section of eats in this pavilion until 10 p.m. Source: MiceChat
“So Tasty” Vinylmation Series: Vinylmation fans finally got a sneak peak today of the “So Tasty” series set to be released at Disney Stores on June 6. The scented set will have some of our fave Disney foods represented such as popcorn and ice cream! Source: Destination Vinylmation

New Cupcake at Epcot’s Karamell-Küche: Our friend, Amanda Tinney at DisneyEveryDay.com sent in this photo of a new Caramel Corn Cupcake at Karamell-Küche.
Aulani’s Makahiki Adds A la Carte Menu: The buffet restaurant Makahiki at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii has added a la carte menu items, according to DisneyParks Blog.
Raglan Road Updates Menus: Downtown Disney’s Raglan Road recently updated menus with additional items.
Flying Fish Cafe Offering Fixed Price Tasting Menu: Flying Fish Cafe at the BoardWalk is now offering a fixed price tasting menu for $63 per person. Source: AllEars.Net
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor Now Open in the Magic Kingdom: The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom has re-opened! The menu now includes a Gourmet Hot Cocoa which is served in a souvenir mug. Source: WDWMagic
New Quick-Service Restaurant at Disney’s Aulani: Mama’s Snack Stop, a quick-service food location will open in June. On the menu: mouthwatering hot dogs, chicken tenders and more. Options include a choice of bread, sauce, and type of sausage, including all-beef hot dog, Hawaiian Winner, or Portuguese sausage. Guests can also select a buffalo ranch chicken tender dog, chicken tenders, fries, Maui Chips, a macadamia pineapple cupcake and fruit. Source: DisneyParksBlog
New Menu at Epcot’s Bistro de Paris: According to the DisneyParks Blog, new menus have debuted at Bistro de Paris! The kids’ menu features a cheese puff pastry or ham and Gruyère cake, for starters. Choice of entrées include roasted chicken breast with tomato pasta, filet mignon with mashed potatoes, or pan-roasted snapper with green beans and tomatoes. Dessert choices are ice cream or sorbet, chocolate mousse, or crepes with fresh fruit.
For adults, starters include: Serrano ham with celery root remoulade and artichoke hearts; marinated tuna with limes, herbs and Mediterranean salad; fresh goat cheese terrine with herbs, zucchini salad and tomato aspic. Entrée choices: Lobster tail and claws served with sautéed mushrooms, poached eggs and a creamy black truffle bouillon. Roasted duck breast with Asian spices; lamb tenderloin stuffed with savoy cabbage and paired with porcinis and a buttery potato fondante; seared scallops with radicchio risotto. For dessert, try the warm chocolate and almond cake, feuilletine, vanilla ice cream and praline sauce. The three-course prix fixe menu is $59 (doesn’t include lobster option).
New Menu at Downtown Disney’s Marketplace Snacks: Melissa Sue Sorrells Galley sent over a picture of the new menu at Marketplace Snacks in Downtown Disney.
Boulangerie Patisserie: Plans are in the works to expand this popular bakery in Epcot’s France Pavilion. See Epcot France Bakery Expansion details, including menu info and opening date, here.
California Grill: According to a restaurant server, California Grill will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment ( 4-6 months) beginning January 2013. During renovation, the restaurant will be given a new look and a refresh to the space. There are talks of moving the bar and opening up the old set of elevators. Possibly getting rid of the banquet rooms. No Disney confirmation yet.
New Popcorn Flavor: Reader @fatjenny spotted Cranberry Popcorn at Tokyo DisneySea. Take a look!
Fulton’s Crab House: Fulton’s Crab House in Downtown Disney now serves Alaskan King Crab Claws as an add-on at Market pricing, according to their Facebook page.
Yachtsman Steakhouse: This Yacht Club restaurant is scheduled to be closed for renovation from August 27 – September 15, 2012.
Perfectly Princess Tea Party: The My Disney Girl Princess Tea Party pricing structure is now $72.03 + tax and gratuity for adults ages 10 and up; and $152.03 + tax and gratuity for kids ages 3-9. Children under 3 are no charge. Under this pricing, one adult (10+) and one child (3-9) attending will cost $264.56.
Wonderland Tea Party: The age limitation has been increased from age 10. Guests 4 – 12 are now welcome at this Grand Floridian activity. Source: Walt Disney World
Hoop Dee Doo Revue Refurb? We’re hearing rumors about Hoop Dee Doo undergoing refurb later this year – August 5-December 31. If you have any info on this, let us know! Source: Reader David Page and Gene
Golden Oak Outpost: According to WDWMagic, the Golden Oak Outpost has re-opened in the Magic Kingdom. Check out the new menu.
Anandapur Tea Company: The quick service location, Anandapur Tea Company, in the Animal Kingdom is now accepting the Disney Dining plan. Source: Exploring WDW
Gluten-Free Flourless Cake: The Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has served up memorable desserts throughout the years. Remember this one? Make the gluten-free cake for your Valentine!
Rainforest Cafe Refurbishment: The Downtown Disney’s Rainforest Cafe is in the process of renovations in which the restaurant will remain open. When completed in October 2012, a new lounge area, exterior updates and an updated volcano will be unveiled. Source: WDWMagic.com
Cape May Cafe Will Close for Renovations: Reader Bob R. gives us a heads up that the Beach Club’s Cape May Cafe will undergo renovations! UPDATE: The Beach Club’s Cape May Cafe is scheduled for a summer refurbishment from July 9 – August 4, 2012. Current plans are to re-open on August 5th. Source: DFB Reader Bob R.
New Cupcake Kiosk Open in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney: According to @DininginDisney, a new cupcake kiosk has opened in Anaheim’s Downtown Disney! We’ll have a review soon!
Karamell Kuche caramel corn price goes up: The small bag of popcorn has bumped up from $2.95 to $3.99. Still a snack credit as far as we know. Thanks to @spacerangrqueen on twitter for the info!
Tables in Wonderland cards for DVC members: AllEars.net’s newsletter is reporting a reader’s experience getting a Tables in Wonderland discount card as a DVC member for $100. Up until now, only Annual Passholders and Florida Residents could get TiW cards, so this is new! Let us know if you experience the same.
Flying Fish Tasting Plates: Flying Fish Cafe has introduced tasting plates to its menu! This means you can get smaller-sized portions of some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes! Try the Caesar Salad and Crab Cake appetizer plate and the potato-wrapped red snapper and strip steak entree plate! — Thanks to DFB Reader Kendra for the tip!
Gluten-Free Beer: ESPN Club sells gluten-free Redbridge Beer for $5.75. Source: AllEars
Jiko Wine Dinners: Because the wine growing and harvest season in South Africa lasts from January thru March, dates for 2012 dinners have not yet been set. After talking with the Manager at Jiko, we feel sure that wine dinners will return to the restaurant for 2012. More information regarding this great experience should be available in late March, with dinners likely to start in April or May. Source: AKLresort.com
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Restaurants: According to our friend and colleague Cheryl Perlmutter, “Just went to DHS and they changed the rolls in the park to Udi brand rolls, which are not egg free.” This pertains to the bread rolls served at the restaurants and could affect some special diets.
