In order to make sure you hear everything we hear, I created this Disney Food News Pinboard to capture the bits and pieces of information we receive through the grapevine.
I’m so grateful for all of the tidbits of info that I hear from readers and friends — I rely on you guys to be my eyes and ears for the DFB since I’m in Texas. Storybook Treats Updated Menu: Storybook Treats at the Magic Kingdom has removed milkshakes from the menu and in their place are orchard cherry and cake batter frozen yogurts for $3.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. Thanks to DFB Reader Kyle for the heads up!
Holiday Offerings at Starbucks: Starbucks West Side in Downtown Disney Orlando is offering small plates and alcoholic drinks (wines, etc.) during the holiday season.
Field to Feast Dinner Featuring Disney Chefs: EAT LOCAL WEEK returns to Central Florida March 7–14, 2015. The culmination of a week of celebrating locally sourced ingredients in local restaurants is scheduled for March 14 with the second annual Field to Feast dinner featuring top Walt Disney World chefs at Long & Scott Farms in Mt. Dora.
Time: 4:30pm – 6:00pm Reception; 6:00pm – 8:30pm Walk-Around Dinner
The reception includes wine, beer, signature cocktails, hor d’oeuvres and a tour of the Farm with farmer Hank Scott. The walk-around dinner will feature food and wine pairings chosen and prepared by Walt Disney World Chefs and Sommeliers, including: Chef Christian Rumpler and sommelier Melissa Schreiber from Golden Oak; Chef Brian Piasecki and sommelier Michael Scheifler from California Grill; Chef Tim Keating and sommelier Stig Jacobsen from Flying Fish Café; Chef Jay Smith and sommelier Damaris Jimenez from The Wave . . . of American Flavors; Chef Leonard Thompson andsommelier Jim Reynders from Disney Catering; Chef Gregg Hannon and sommelier Marianne Hunnel from Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival; Chef Phil Ponticelli and sommelier Keith Gimbel from Cítricos; Chef Scott Hunnel and sommelier Israel Perez from Victoria & Albert’s; and Chef Stefan Riemer and sommelier Jason Cha Kim showcasing Disney desserts.
A limited number of tickets are available at edibleorlando.com, $165 per person includes reception, farm tour and culinary stations. Proceeds from this event, a sellout in 2013, benefit Kids Café Program of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
Trattoria al Forno Desserts: The December 18 opening of Trattoria al Forno at Disney’s BoardWalk is fast approaching! Desserts on the menu include classic tiramisù, gelato, a hot bomboloni (donut) with dark chocolate and vanilla gelato, cannoli-like creation with pizzelle cookies filled with chocolate and pistachio cream, hazelnut-chocolate cake with oranges and whipped cream, and a no-sugar-added, gluten-free lemon panna cotta with almond crunch and berries. Trattoria al Forno’s hours will be 7:30-11AM for breakfast, 5-10PM for dinner. The Disney Dining Plan will be accepted. For reservations, call 407-WDW-DINE or see www.disneyworld.com/dine.
Holiday Waffle Cone: Disney continues to add seasonal touches to our favorite theme park snacks. Check out this holiday waffle cone — Crushed Candy Cane! Grab one at Disneyland’s Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and Clarabelle’s Hand-scooped Ice Cream in Disney California Adventure Park.
Chef Kevin Dundon Award Nominations: Master Chef Kevin Dundon at Raglan Road in Downtown Disney is also the star of the PBS and Create TV show “Kevin Dundon’s Modern Irish Food”. Recently nominated for two TASTE AWARDS (Best Food Travel Series and Best Chef in a Series), the highest awards in the Lifestyle Entertainment Industry, Chef Dundon is known for his Irish cuisine in Orlando. Winners will be announced in December!
Citricos Wine Dinner: Citricos has announced a Foxen Winery Dinner for January 28, 2015 from 6-8:30PM. Your hosts will be Dick Doré & Jenny Williamson Doré This exclusive event will seat 10 people in the Chefs Domain at a cost of $195 per person including gratuity (tax is additional). Stitch Waffles at ‘Ohana: Stitch-themed waffles are now being served at ‘Ohana’s family-style breakfast in the Polynesian Village Resort. During this festive breakfast, Mickey Waffles are still being served as well! Source: Tikiman
Seasonal Coffees at Royal Anandapur Tea Company: Royal Anandapur Tea Company (a Joffrey’s location) at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is now offering seasonal Pumpkin Pie beverages — Latte or Frozen Cappuccino.
New Menu at Victoria Falls: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to the Victoria Falls Lounge. Stop by and try the new menu featuring flavors of Africa and India! Choose from artisinal cheeses, tandoori chicken wings, “pork” wings, Peri Peri scallops, chickpea bites, and more tapas. Source: Disney Parks Blog
Le Cellier New Year’s Eve Dinner: Le Cellier will host a New Year’s Eve dinner on December 31, 2014. Le Cellier’s guests will receive a souvenir champagne flute featuring the Le Cellier logo to commemorate the occasion.
This year, Le Cellier will have three seatings for New Year’s Eve dinners. The first two seatings (4:30 and 6:45PM) include a 4-course meal with choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Cost is $173.06 for adults and $56.03 for children (3-9). The third seating at 9PM highlights a 5-course meal with choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Cost is $247.76 for adults and $80.93 for children (3-9). All costs include tax and gratutity.

Boatwright’s Menu Update: DFB received an anonymous tip about upcoming changes to the Boatwright’s Menu. This restaurant is nestled inside the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. Let’s take a look…
Amelia’s Salad: spinach salad with seasonal ingredients with house-made vinaigrette
Crescent City Gumbo: chicken and Andouille gumbo, slow-cooked in a Cajun-spiced broth
Plantation Salad: romaine, Parmigiano-Reggiano croutons and prosciutto with house dressing
Ol’ Man Island Oysters: lightly fried oysters with house-made remoulade and watercress salad
Colonel’s Peace’s Crawfish Pieces: crispy crawfish bites, served with house-made remoulade

New Dessert at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater: Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has debuted a new dessert. It’s a Warm Glazed Doughnut stacked with Cinnamon Apples and topped with vanilla ice cream.
Photo Packages Will Discontinue at Cinderella’s Royal Table: As of January 4, 2015, print (photo) packages will no longer be included at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Don’t forget that Cinderella’s Royal Table is closing for a lengthy refurbishment on January 5th.
Sanaa Menu Update: Chai Cream is no longer appearing on the menu at Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Thanks to DFB Reader Abby for the heads up!
Tables in Wonderland Update: Les Chefs de France is no longer accepting the Tables in Wonderland discount for dinner. Tables in Wonderland is still being accepted for lunch. Also, Tables in Wonderland is now being accepted for Mickey’s Backyard BBQ.
Cinderella’s Royal Table Refurbishment: The Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant will undergo a lengthy refurbishment in early 2015. Guests visiting Walt Disney World should expect the princess-themed restaurant to be closed from January 5 – March 6, according to WDWMagic.com.
New Risotto Side Dish at Le Cellier: Guests dining at Le Cellier in Epcot, we’ll find that the mushroom risotto is no longer being served with the Filet. This pic was shared by DFB Reader Diandra: Notice the NEW pea risotto!
Flo’s V8 Cafe Menu Change: Flo’s V8 Cafe in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure will no longer be serving breakfast. If you’re a fan of the Brioche French Toast, stop by soon! Watch here for more information. Source: MousePlanet

Splitsville Adds Gluten Free Dishes:
Sixteen new gluten free dishes have been added to the regular Splitsville menu. This Downtown Disney location in Orlando now features delicious, gluten free dishes including: rice bowls (fiesta chicken, steak fajita, Asian shrimp and spicy veggie) served with sticky rice; pizza crust; sushi rolls with no rice (The Alberto with spicy tuna and avocado rolled in thinly sliced cucumber and served with lemon ponzu sauce); Blazing Chicken (tenderloins in spicy Buffalo sauce), steamed edamame and seared ahi tuna (also served as a salad with spring mix and Asian pear dressing); turkey BLT salad (roasted turkey, lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, bacon, red onion, and blue cheese); blackened mahi mahi with spicy voodoo shrimp; and grilled salmon.

Chips & Slices Open at Lake Buena Vista Golf Course: Check out Chips & Slices before or after your round of golf at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf. Serving breakfast and lunch, plus beer and mixed drinks!
Updated Menu at Disneyland’s Harbour Galley: Harbour Galley in Disneyland has debuted new menu items including a classic lobster roll and shrimp Cobb salad. The popular Broccoli and cheddar cheese soup and clam chowder selections will still be offered. While the broccoli-cheese baked potato has been removed, a new shrimp salad topped spud joins the popular bacon-cheese-sour cream potato on the menu. Creamy cole slaw has been added to the barbecue chicken baked potato too. There’s also fresh fruit and a Kids’ Power Pack (yogurt, fruit, veggies, crackers and milk or water)!
New Entertainment at Scat Cat’s Club at Port Orleans French Quarter: Scat Cat’s Club in the Port Orleans French Quarter resort has new evening entertainment. While jazz musician Elliot Dyson is no longer performing, Tom Casey (pianist and vocalist) will appear Friday through Monday at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30PM. Source: WDW For Grownups
Heinz Natural Ketchup: Disney’s Hollywood Studios counter service condiment kiosks now feature Heinz Natural Ketchup packets. They are made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. Thanks to Reader Steven for the heads up!
Disney World Receives Gluten Free Award: The 3rd Annual Gluten Free Award Winners were announced and Disney World received top honors for a gluten-free vacation destination!
Ghirardelli Snack Credit: Disney Dining plan snack credits can be used at Ghirardelli’s Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. Anything below $5 (before tax) is a snack credit and includes the Decadent Drinking Chocolate. Snack credits can be used at the Soda Fountain and the Chocolate Shop!

Walt Disney World Restaurant Closures
Cinderella’s Royal Table: Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant will undergo a lengthy refurbishment. Guests visiting Walt Disney World should expect the princess-themed restaurant to be closed from January 5 – March 6, 2015.
Kouzzina by Cat Cora at BoardWalk Resort: Closed at end of business day on September 30, 2014. A new restaurant, Trattoria al Forno, will open at this location December 2014.
Closures include Pollo Campero, Bodie’s All-American, and BabyCakes NYC.
