In order to make sure you hear everything we hear, I created this Disney Food News Pinboard to capture the bits and pieces of information we receive through the grapevine.
I’m so grateful for all of the tidbits of info that I hear from readers and friends — I rely on you guys to be eyes and ears for the DFB since I’m in Texas. If you hear a piece of Disney Food News, please pass it along to us via twitter, facebook, or email so that we can post it either on the Blog or on the Pinboard!

Here are some news tidbits that we don’t have a full post about on the site, but that are important to know for your next Disney vacation!
Citricos Wine Dinner: Citricos has announced a wine dinner for July 24, 2014. Starting at 6pm, five courses of delectable food and wine will be served in the Chefs Domain. Limited seating is available for $155/per person (inclusive of gratuity) plus tax. A credit card guarantee is required when booking at 407-824-3988 or Keith.Gimbel@Disney.com.
Wolfgang Puck Event: Wolfgang Puck is offering a 3 course cooking demonstration with wine pairings on May 4 beginning 1pm in the Dining Room at Downtown Disney Orlando. Cost is $40 per person. Thanks to Reader Joe Barrett for the heads up!
Flo’s V8 Cafe Menu Change: Flo’s V8 Cafe in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure will no longer be serving breakfast. If you’re a fan of the Brioche French Toast, stop by soon! Watch here for more information. Source: MousePlanet
Spice Road Table Menu Update: Spice Road Table has refreshed its menu with the addition of Mix Grill Skewers and some name changes to other dishes.
Four Seasons Dining: Four Seasons Resort Orlando will open in Summer 2014 at Walt Disney World. Excellent dining opportunities will include creative cuisine prepared at its restaurants and lounges. Ravello specializes in tastes from the Amalfi coast prepared in its open kitchen. Enjoy a fireworks view from the rooftop at Capa where tapas and steaks will be showcased. PB+G is the pool’s bar and grill where salads and poolside fare will be coupled with smokehouse BBQ specialties. Hang out in the lounge with its central bar, dine on floating pavilions, or opt for convenience with grab and go. In the golf clubhouse, Plancha will offer Cuban American cuisine in a lakeside setting. Guests will also have access to some special Walt Disney World offerings – including a unique on-site Disney Character Breakfast with Goofy and Pals!

Splitsville Adds Gluten Free Dishes:
Sixteen new gluten free dishes have been added to the regular Splitsville menu. This Downtown Disney location in Orlando now features delicious, gluten free dishes including: rice bowls (fiesta chicken, steak fajita, Asian shrimp and spicy veggie) served with sticky rice; pizza crust; sushi rolls with no rice (The Alberto with spicy tuna and avocado rolled in thinly sliced cucumber and served with lemon ponzu sauce); Blazing Chicken (tenderloins in spicy Buffalo sauce), steamed edamame and seared ahi tuna (also served as a salad with spring mix and Asian pear dressing); turkey BLT salad (roasted turkey, lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, bacon, red onion, and blue cheese); blackened mahi mahi with spicy voodoo shrimp; and grilled salmon.

Chips & Slices Open at Lake Buena Vista Golf Course: Check out Chips & Slices before or after your round of golf at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf. Serving breakfast and lunch, plus beer and mixed drinks!
New Menu Item at La Cantina de San Angel: Epcot’s counter service restaurant, La Cantina de San Angel, is now serving a Barbacoa Torta with Barbacoa, sour cream, guacamole, and black beans. Source: @erwalker23
Updated Menu at Disneyland’s Harbour Galley: Harbour Galley in Disneyland has debuted new menu items including a classic lobster roll and shrimp Cobb salad. The popular Broccoli and cheddar cheese soup and clam chowder selections will still be offered. While the broccoli-cheese baked potato has been removed, a new shrimp salad topped spud joins the popular bacon-cheese-sour cream potato on the menu. Creamy cole slaw has been added to the barbecue chicken baked potato too. There’s also fresh fruit and a Kids’ Power Pack (yogurt, fruit, veggies, crackers and milk or water)!
New Entertainment at Scat Cat’s Club at Port Orleans French Quarter: Scat Cat’s Club in the Port Orleans French Quarter resort has new evening entertainment. While jazz musician Elliot Dyson is no longer performing, Tom Casey (pianist and vocalist) will appear Friday through Monday at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30PM. Source: WDW For Grownups
Wine Spectator 2013 Restaurant Wine List Awards: Signature Walt Disney World and Disneyland restaurants — Victoria & Alberts, Shula’s Steak House, Citricos, Narcossee’s, Jiko, Flying Fish Cafe, Il Mulino New York Trattoria, Bluezoo, Catal Restaurant & Uva Bar, Naples Ristorante E Pizzeria, and Napa Rose — have been recognized with a Wine Spectator 2013 Restaurant Wine List Award of Excellence. World of Color Picnic Meals Discontinued: Disneyland Resort has indicated that as of June 1, 2013 the World of Color picnic meals have been discontinued. Guests will still be able to get World of Color FastPass tickets at the distribution machines by Grizzly River Run, or purchase table service dining packages featuring World of Color reserved seating at the Wine Country Trattoria at the Golden Vine Winery, Carthay Circle Restaurant and Ariel’s Grotto.

Raglan Road Receives Award: Raglan Road in Downtown Disney Orlando has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2013. This prestigious award places Raglan Road in the top-performing 10% of all businesses worldwide on TripAdvisor, and is given to businesses that consistently earn high ratings from TripAdvisor travelers. Congratulations!
Heinz Natural Ketchup: Disney’s Hollywood Studios counter service condiment kiosks now feature Heinz Natural Ketchup packets. They are made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. Thanks to Reader Steven for the heads up!
Be Our Guest Restaurant Receives Award: Be Our Guest Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom has earned national recognition. The Operator Innovation Award from the National Restaurant Association (NRA) was earned for the technology at the restaurant, including great storytelling and state-of-the-art touch-screen terminals which allow guests to customize their orders. The personalized, streamlined experience enables the restaurant to serve more than 3,000 meals at lunch each day. In addition, the restaurant transforms from a quick-service location for lunch to a table-service experience for dinner.
Todd English’s bluezoo: Chef Chris Windus is the executive chef at Todd English’s bluezoo at the Walt Disney World Dolphin resort. After ten years at bluezoo, it has been announced that he is leaving to head up the kitchen at a new Winter Park restaurant. We’ll keep our readers updated when news is released about a replacement chef and new menu at bluezoo.
Kona Island Sushi Bar: While you may still order sushi here, it is no longer being made by a chef behind the bar. Sushi is now prepared in the kitchen at the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian Resort.

Victoria & Albert’s Honored: Zagat has named Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s one of the top 15 iconic restaurants in the country!
Beverage Seminars Aboard the Disney Fantasy: New beverage seminars have been added to the offerings on Disney Cruise Line’s Fantasy. These include Amari Tasting ($20), Wine & Chocolate Tasting ($30), and a Rum Tasting ($15). Beverage seminars are usually offered on sea days and can be booked on Embarkation Day. Wolfgang Puck Cafe Menu Update: Joe Barrett shares some news from the Wolfgang Puck Cafe at Downtown Disney Orlando! New items added include Fennel Sausage Pizza, Barbecue Chicken Sliders, and Crispy Chicken Salad.
Disney World Receives Gluten Free Award: The 3rd Annual Gluten Free Award Winners were announced and Disney World received top honors for a gluten-free vacation destination!
Ghirardelli Snack Credit: Disney Dining plan snack credits can be used at Ghirardelli’s Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. Anything below $5 (before tax) is a snack credit and includes the Decadent Drinking Chocolate. Snack credits can be used at the Soda Fountain and the Chocolate Shop!

New Menu at Shutters in Caribbean Beach Resort: A former Disney Cruise Line chef, Mike Reitzler, has taken the helm at Shutters in the Caribbean Beach Resort. While favorites such as chorizo-black bean soup and the crispy chicken wings tossed in habanero-brown sugar glaze remain on the menu, most of the items are new.
Try the Mahi Bake (fish tacos with crispy mahi mahi, avocado, lettuce, mango salsa and cilantro-lime sour cream) as a starter. Other new Caribbean-flavored items include: a citrus-poached shrimp with hot fried plantains; fresh fish with yucca dumplings; char-crusted New York strip steak with mashed sweet potatoes; pasta with shrimp, chorizo, spinach and goat cheese (there’s also a vegetarian version); cocktails like the Caribbean Smuggler; Red Stripe beer; press pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain; and no-sugar-added angel food cake topped with silky coconut crème Anglaise and fresh fruit.
Restaurant Updates at Disney’s Vero Beach: Disney’s Vero Beach Resort has made some changes to the resort dining options. Shutters is now open exclusively for dinner. The lunchtime menu at The Green Cabin Room has been expanded and a range of menu options are now available at the Bleachers Bar and Grill. Room service, however, is no longer available.
DVC Member Gatherings with Refreshments: The Sleeping Beauty Pavilion at the Disneyland Hotel will host a weekly Disney Vacation Club Member Gathering. DVC Members are welcome to the Royal Member Gathering each Monday at 8am to play games, enjoy light refreshments, meet a Disney Character, and receive a DVC gift. Friends and family are welcome to join in on the gathering with a member. A DVC Member ID Card is needed for admittance. In Hawai’i, Aulani DVC Members are welcome to gather on select Monday mornings at 8am for a chat with coffee.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Restaurants: According to our friend and colleague Cheryl Perlmutter, “Just went to DHS and they changed the rolls in the park to Udi brand rolls, which are not egg free.” This pertains to the bread rolls served at the restaurants and could affect some special diets.
Walt Disney World Restaurant Closures
Captain Cook’s at Polynesian Resort: Undergoing a refurbishment with a re-opening this summer. Temporary quick service location is in the Great Ceremonial House. The menu offering will be similar, but no Dole Whips. The temporary location will be open daily from 6:30AM to 4:30AM.
Kouzzina by Cat Cora at BoardWalk Resort: Closing at end of business day on September 30, 2014. A new restaurant will open at this location in late 2014.
Recent closures include Pollo Campero, Bodie’s All-American, and BabyCakes NYC.
