Disney Dining Tip: Fruity Snacks in the Disney Parks

Over the past few years, Disney has introduced some great fruity options in the parks. Some super healthy…and some not so much. But even when our selection isn’t necessarily a low-calorie treat, the added fruit at least makes us feel less guilty. ;-)

So for those looking to make their five servings a day, let’s take a look at a few of those sweet treats!

Fresh Fruit at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Fruit Snacks

I love to reach for a piece of fresh fruit, especially on a hot Florida day, and especially for breakfast. And these days you’ll find some really appetizing (as opposed to a few years ago) fresh-cut and whole fruits in each park. (I usually find the best stuff in Disneyland, but Disney World’s selection has gotten better and better.)

If you find yourself in between a Dole Whip and Mickey Ice Cream Bar at the Magic Kingdom, practicing some moderation with fruit from Liberty Square Market is a guilt-free option.

Menu Items at Liberty Square Market

One of our favorite fresh fruit menu items is found at the Animal Kingdom’s Bradley Falls and Tamu Tamu Refreshments. Doesn’t this fruit salad (pineapple, mango, grapes, blueberries, kiwi, and lychee) look amazing?!

New in Disney World: Mickey Ear Hat Brownies, Chocolate-Covered Pineapple, and More!

During my recent Walt Disney World visit, my first stop in the Magic Kingdom was, as always, the Main Street Confectionery.

Most of the usual yummies were right where they should be (I’m talking to you Krispie Mickey Heads and mint chocolate fudge). But I did notice a few recent additions to the Confectionery offerings.

Mickey Ear Hat Brownies

First up in the refrigerator case, I noticed something labeled “Brownies $3.95.”

These cute-as-a-button treats are shaped like little Mickey ear hats. Fun! They come in four flavors: raspberry (red swirl), mint (green swirl), all chocolate (white swirl), or, gasp, English toffee (toffee bits on top). I opted to try the mint version.

As with all Mickey-shaped items, I opted to eat the ears first. Unfortunately, I was so busy eating the ear that I [Read more…]

Dining in Disneyland: Dulce Aventura at Disney California Adventure

Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers reviews a brand new candy store in Disney California Adventure!

I guess I’m a little late to the fiesta, but I finally made it over to Dulce Aventura at Disney California Adventure.  Located in the Pacific Wharf area directly next to Cocina Cucamonga, Dulce Aventura opened this past July.

Eats

A cute little counter service treat stop, Dulce Aventura offers a limited but tasty menu.  When we stopped to browse the menu, my boys and I were immediately offered samples.  Samples? I questioned; Disney rarely gives samples.  Of course we wanted samples!

We had the option of tasting the Snickerdoodle, a Chocolate Dipped Pretzel, or a piece of the Large Mickey Chocolate Chip cookie.  I tried the Snickerdoodle, which was pretty tasty but a bit dry. I definitely prefer the [Read more…]
