We are AP’s and would like to try to get the free dining offer as well. I’m a little confused about Sarah’s previous answer to someone who asked the same question. She said to get the dining plan – then use your AP to get into the parks and apply the park hoppers to our renewal? Can you explain that further?
Hi, Arlene! I went straight to AJ for the details on this one! When an AP purchases a package with Park Hoppers in order to get Free Dining, they’ll need to NOT use the Park Hoppers on their trip. This will require a stop at Guest Services to be absolutely sure that the Annual Pass is the primary ticket attached to the account. So you’ll still have the unused Park Hopper in your My Disney Experience account, but here’s where it gets a little confusing. In the past — before date-based pricing — you could go to Guest Services when it was time to renew your AP and just have a cast member find the unused tickets and ask him to upgrade those to an AP (or apply it to a renewal). In this case the guest only had to pay the difference. Now that date-based pricing is in play, you may want to check with Guest Services while you’re still on your Free Dining trip (don’t wait until renewal time!) to find out if you need to upgrade NOW (meaning on the Free Dining trip) or if it’s okay to wait until your renewal time comes around. You’ll still only be required to pay the difference, but because the difference will vary from day to day depending on the dates of your trip, we think it’s prudent to double check with Guest Services before your Free Dining trip is over to make sure they can apply it when you need them to.
