Welcome back, friends! We’re here with another roundup of What’s New at Magic Kingdom, and today we’ll be giving you a look into construction, merchandise, ride maintenance, and even a new dining area!
There’s a lot to see, so let’s hop right in.
Speaking of hopping on in…
We spotted the new Sensational Six buses at the Magic Kingdom bus stop while we were heading into the park! Hot diggity dog!

Magic Kingdom Maintenance Update
Pilots, Astro Orbiter is taking a quick break! The ride has been down for a couple of days due to technical difficulties (we told you that jump to hyperdrive wouldn’t work!!).
Cast Members were seen handing out Mickey stickers to guests who missed the attraction. Of course, we had to get one!
While nobody was working on the ride when we were in Magic Kingdom, we were informed that they hope to reopen Astro Orbiter soon.
Magic Kingdom Construction Update
Taking a stroll through Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Sign is still gone as we reported earlier. Yes, this is the saddest photo you’ll see all day… .
On a happier note, the Tron Coaster is making some great progress! The construction workers seem to be moving along quickly to bring us the futuristic thrill ride.
Just look at that incredible track! We have the need for speed right now after seeing those twists and turns!
On the other hand, the Cinderella Castle walkway is slowly but surely coming together. The foundation is starting to be set so guests have more room to dance and play in the park.
We have to admit we do miss that moat, though!
Previously, we spotted a strange curtain separating the men’s and kids’ sections at the Emporium.
We aren’t sure why it was there in the first place, but it has since disappeared and the walkway is open.
That just means there’s more room to shop, which is a plus in our book!
Magic Kingdom Merchandise Update
While we were hanging out in Emporium, we just happened to find MORE The Little Mermaid merch! (We weren’t surprised either.)
There is an Ariel Shirt for girls featuring everyone’s favorite fish friend, Flounder!
School is coming up soon, parents (whether you’re happy about this or not is your decision!). Send your little ones back to class with The Little Mermaid Backpack!
We’ve seen a couple of Junk Food items around the parks, like the Mickey Balloon Phone Case and the Walt Disney World Hats, but we picked up the new Navy Castle Phone Case during this merch search!
With all these cute Disney finds, we could have a different phone case every day!
Magic Kingdom Rest Area Update
Located near the exit of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Miner’s Cove has been refurbished into a rest area! Miner’s Cove used to be the smoking area in Frontierland, but since Disney has created the no smoking policy in all parks, we get a new picnic area instead!
There are picnic tables with umbrellas…
…rocking chairs under wooden covering…
…and even an Animal Relief Station!
No smoking signs are posted in Miner’s Cove, so guests will need to leave the smoke to the Walt Disney World Railroad.

As we were leaving, we stopped by to see our favorite twins, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Looking good, guys!!
We exited the Magic Kingdom marching to the Main Street Band’s Drummer with a smile on our faces and happiness in our hearts.
That’s all for this What’s New at Magic Kingdom, everybody! Check back with us next time for more construction, merchandise, and food updates!

Does anyone know if Essie is okay ??? Whenever I read this blog, Essie comments frequently but I haven’t seen her name in a very long time. I hope she is doing well.
Caryn says
I believe the more appropriate terms would be “service animal relief station” and “service animal relief sign,” yes? Service animals are permitted in the parks, but not all “pets.”
Jessie says
This probably seems like a really small issue but in the article it says pet relief area. Thats not right as pets are not allowed in Disney parks. Those are actually service animal relief areas. And it would be super helpful to label it as such so when Service Animal handlers are looking up the most recent areas for their dogs (or mini horses) to go to the bathroom it pops up for them. Service animals aren’t pets.

I’ve updated the post to reflect SERVICE ANIMALS, not pets. Thanks to those who pointed it out!

Hi, Elizabeth! We did get at least one comment from Essie this past week, so she’s been checking in! Very sweet of you to ask. 🙂
Caryn says
Terrific that you changed the text to “service animal relief station.” But the photo caption is still “pet relief sign.”
Thanks for being willing to make the corrections!
