Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is FULL of incredible food. There are so many options for great eats, in fact, that it can lead to some tough decisions! There are even some food options you may not know even exist, making your choice on what to eat even TOUGHER!
There is so much more to Magic Kingdom than just burgers and chicken nuggets, and that’s why we’re here! If you’re struggling to decide what to order next time you’re in the Most Magical Place on Earth, let us help!
Go To Be Our Guest Restaurant for LUNCH instead of Breakfast or Dinner
We think the main appeal of dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant is the chance to eat INSIDE Beast’s iconic castle. The food (ranging from good to why would I eat that?) kind of takes a backseat to the over the top gorgeous atmosphere you’re dining in. And you know what? It’s a pretty awesome restaurant to eat in! We love it, BUT we don’t love the price.
Our biggest issue is with their breakfast. For what you get, it’s incredibly overpriced if you’re paying out of pocket (we’re talking close to a whopping $30 per entree for breakfast!). Sorry, but a cronut with half a banana, some stale pastries, and a tiny bowl of fruit doesn’t cost 30 bucks, guys.
Dinner has received a major price upgrade from the initial menu available when the restaurant opened in 2012. Back then, dinner only cost one table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan.
But recently they upgraded to a prix fixe 3-course meal costing 2 table service credits per person or a whopping $62 for adults and $37 for kids out of pocket. This meal is fine flavor-wise…but costly. Here, you’re partially paying to meet the Beast, which you can only do at dinner.
Here’s where lunch comes in. You get the most bang for your buck if paying out of pocket — most adult entrees are around $15-19 dollars.
Better yet, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, lunch and breakfast inside the Beast’s castle are considered fast food meals, even though they’re served on real plates and brought to you at a table, so it will only cost you 1 quick service credit! (This is true for breakfast, too, so if you really want to eat the breakfast food here — or if you really want to score the best possible deal for your Disney Dining Plan quick service credit — then go for it; but ONLY when you’re using a credit, IMO.)
Lunch at BOG is easily one of the best quick service options out there. You get to dine in the Beast’s castle AND have great food in a sit-down atmosphere. Win-win.
Go to The Crystal Palace for BREAKFAST instead of lunch or dinner!
While we recommend you wait until later in the day to eat at Be Our Guest Restaurant, when it comes to The Crystal Palace, the earlier you can get in, the better!
This character dining experience offers buffet meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you’re paying out of pocket, breakfast is considerably cheaper; your morning meal will come out to $42 per adult and $27 per child, whereas lunch and dinner will cost you $55 per adult and $36 per child.
You still get to meet the same bunch of characters at breakfast as you do at lunch or dinner — typically Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore. You can also dine on a few Crystal Palace specialties only found here during breakfast — Pooh’s Breakfast Lasagna and Puffed French Toast!
The former is basically just a really good excuse to get in a healthy serving of fresh fruit covered in creamy custard, and the Puffed French Toast is like if a fresh cinnamon sugar donut and french toast had a baby! Both are delicious!
On top of being a better value, snagging an early morning breakfast dining reservation can also get you into the park early (breakfast typically begins before the park is open to the public for the day, but guests with reservations are allowed in early!), offering some great photo opportunities sans crowds in front of Cinderella Castle!
Get a hand-scooped ice cream sandwich over a pre-packaged one!
We get that many people consider those Nestle ice cream sandwiches sold at carts around the park iconic, but you’re selling yourself short if you don’t go for a delicious hand-scooped sammie!
In our opinion, the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is THE best place to go for hand-scooped ice cream — they have unique flavors and toppings, including peanut butter sauce (YUMMMM!).
If you opt for a hand-scooped sandwich, you’ll get two freshly made chocolate chip cookies sandwiched with your choice of ice cream flavor. BUT…if you feel like getting crafty, you can even DIY the perfect ice cream sandwich yourself.
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments also serves yummy hand-scooped ice cream sandwiches. We recently had to bid a sad farewell to the churro ice cream sammie — but you can still get a classic hand-scooped cookie sandwich at this spot!
Regardless of where you choose to get your hand-scooped ice cream sandwich, you’ll pay $6.99 for these sammies. The pre-packaged varieties around the parks are slightly cheaper at $6 but trust us, the extra buck is SO worth it!
Don’t eat breakfast at Starbucks! Go to Joffrey’s instead.
Sometimes the best breakfast option out there is ALSO the most convenient option. While we know many of you out there LOVE your daily dose of Starbucks, there are other great coffee options to consider at Magic Kingdom with MUCH more manageable lines!
Joffrey’s Coffee is a small chain that is local to Tampa, FL. But for a lot of you readers who may be less familiar, Joffrey’s has kiosk locations throughout Disney World, and offers specialty coffee, tea, pastries (including awesome local Donut King donuts!), and other beverage options!
Next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, skip Starbucks on Main Street (where the line is probably a mile and a half long), and head to Tomorrowland where you’ll find Joffrey’s Revive! Try one of their Donut King donuts (trust us – you’ll thank us later!). And get to the rides THAT much faster!
Beware of the pre-packaged snacks! Head to Main Street Confectionary for the fresh stuff!
Like we mentioned with our hand-scooped ice cream sandwiches, in general, if there’s a snack you’re craving at Magic Kingdom, chances are you can find it fresh instead of pre-packaged if you look around!
Whether you want cotton candy, Rice Krispie treats, or hand-dipped apples, Main Street Confectionery will have plenty of snacks that were made that day (sometimes RIGHT in front of you!).
You can watch cotton candy being freshly spun, apples being dunked in caramel, and so much more. Ask what treats are being prepared fresh that day and pick a winner! It’s tough to go wrong with any of their freshly prepared sweets!
Find specialty snacks you can ONLY get at Magic Kingdom, instead of the snacks offered resort-wide!
Our last tip is a big one, and it’s sort of a “catch-all” for the many tasty snacks you can find throughout the park. Magic Kingdom has no shortage of churros, Mickey Mouse pretzels, and Dole Whip. However, all of those items can be found elsewhere throughout Walt Disney World (those Mickey Mouse pretzels will follow you everywhere you go, trust us!).
This seasonal-turned-regular menu item is coconut soft serve over pineapple juice, with blue curaçao syrup and a fun chocolate cake pop! Magic Kingdom is currently the ONLY spot to find this magical flavor!
Next up, instead of your typical churro, grab a Cheshire Cat Tail instead! This fan-favorite snack at Cheshire Cafe is a Chocolate Danish Twist, decorated with stripes of purple and pink icing that mimic the look of that sneaky Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
To rinse that Cheshire Cat Tail down, head to Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland for some FOMOsa! This fun beverage is sparkling apple cider topped with Dole Orange soft-serve in a champagne flute!
Honestly, Sunshine Tree Terrace has LOTS of unique float options in a variety of fun flavors, so there’s sure to be at least one that strikes your fancy (We’re still fond of the new I Lava You Float!).
While you’re in Adventureland, shuffle over to the Spring Roll Wagon for sone of our FAVORITE snacks! These are some of the BEST snacks in Magic Kingdom, so much so that it always comes up in conversation when we tell folks where to find the best snacks each year.
From Philly Cheesesteak to Pepperoni Pizza to classic Cheeseburger, we’ve been obsessed with this rotating menu of deliciousness! Be warned though — these crispy treats aren’t Disney Dining Plan snack credit eligible, so you’ll have to pay out of pocket if you want to chow down!
Finally, for dessert, we’re heading back to Sleepy Hollow for our beloved Nutella Waffle Sandwich! This has been a DFB fave for years and is a colossal snack that’s more like a magical dessert taco, loaded with fresh fruit and ALL the Nutella on a fresh-baked waffle.
You can call it whatever you want — we love it and you GOTTA try it!
If you’re missing an iconic Disney World frozen snack right about now, learn how to make it at home here!
With so many delicious options around Magic Kingdom, we want you to know all the BEST ways to max out your snackage in the park! Mickey Premium Bars and Churros are fine and all, but you can do BETTER, and we want to help make sure that happens.
