We just can’t stay away from Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs!
What can we say? We’re fans of the cookies, the cold brews, and the cake slices. Plus this bakery has very unique decor and an interesting back story!
So we’re going to head over to Gideon’s any time there’s something new. And this time, we headed over to check out a new cake, the Eternal Flame Double Frosted! We’ve already tried the Eternal Flame Cookie, which had a spicy kick to it, so let’s see how the cake compares!
The cake is a 3-Layer Chocolate Cake covered in two layers of Buttercream. TWO! One layer is Maraschino Cherry Buttercream and the other layer is Chocolate Fudge Buttercream mixed with Ancho, Cayenne, and Cinnamon. Aye caramba! The outside has pieces of Dark Chocolate Cookie Wafer Crumbs.
So this cake certainly brings some heat with each bite, but not to the point that it overpowers the other flavors. We really enjoyed the smooth mousse-like cherry buttercream frosting, too. It was YUM. Look at all these beautiful layers of flavors! The cake itself is a bit fudgy, so if that’s not your favorite type of cake, this may not be for you. That being said, we absolutely loved it and think it’s one of the most unique pieces of cake we’ve had in Disney World.
There is enough heat here that kids or anyone averse to spicy foods might not like this. But we loved the spicy kick and how it blended perfectly with the chocolate and cherry flavors.
This cake is now available for $9 per slice every Saturday and Sunday in February with a 2-slice limit per person while supplies last.
