Every once in a while, we notice something strange in Disney World that catches our eye…
…but this week, we got more than we bargained for with a very bizarre Ketchup situation.
You may remember that earlier this week, we mentioned there was a bit of a ketchup crisis happening in the United States, and Heinz has admitted to having trouble keeping up with this larger demand for ketchup.
Well, folks, we’re here to tell you that it seems as if the ketchup crisis has reached Disney World (dun dun dunnn). But we are here to determine exactly what is going on with the ketchup?? For starters, do not panic! There is still ketchup in Disney World. There has just been a temporary brand switch at select locations.
We first discovered the ketchup swap at Hollywood Studios yesterday. We noticed that the usual Heinz ketchup had been replaced by a new-to-us brand, Red Gold Ketchup. With that, DFB was officially on the case!🕵️♀️
The new ketchup was seen at both the ABC Commissary and then today at Rosie’s All American Cafe. Soooo is Heinz getting pushed out or what?? Did Heinz run out of ketchcup?!
We also spotted the new ketchup brand at Riviera Resort’s quick service! But, in the gift shop, we were able to find a full bottle of Heinz for sale on the shelves.
So, if you’re absolutely craving that Heinz fix, you can grab a whole bottle at the Riviera gift shop for only $2.79. Considering there’s a mass shortage, that’s not too bad a price! Plus, it is small enough to fit in your backpack, and would definitely last your whole trip…okay, yes, we clearly spent too long considering gift shop ketchup today.
We spotted the new ketchup again over in Landscape of Flavors at the Art of Animation Resort, but here’s something interesting — er, more interesting:
All the other condiments in the bowls were still Heinz! We saw mustard, mayo, BBQ sauce, honey mustard, and even plain honey, so it really is just the ketchup that’s missing.
So…of course, we asked a Cast Member what was up, and here’s the scoop we got: the ketchup deliveries came in on Friday, and the distributor was all out of Heinz, but still had to deliver something. Thus, the new Red Gold ketchup. However, they didn’t seem worried about the change and told us that Disney’s contract is still with Heinz, so, as soon as it’s back in stock, we’ll start seeing Heinz again around the parks! You just may see a few random brands until Heinz can get ahead in terms of ketchup stock!
In the meantime, since we have no way of knowing when that restock might happen, if you’re a serious ketchup fan, this might be something you want to play ahead for! Otherwise, that giftshop Heinz ketchup is going to start looking pretty tempting… . But hey, the good news is that there is still ketchup in Disney World!! 😊
We will absolutely be keeping you posted on this important Disney food news, so stay tuned to hear the latest in the Great Disney Ketchup Saga!

I have seen red gold ketchup in the past at Columbia Harbor House. That was a year or two ago. It’s a great company and you probably won’t see a difference.
Lee says
Heinz ketchup has high fructose corn syrup. That’s bad. I prefer Red Gold.
Kevin says
Actually, Red Gold tastes pretty much like Heinz. We have it here in NE Ohio, and sometimes when it’s on sale, will sometimes get that. Heinz is my absolute 1st choice, especially since living an hr away from the company, but if have to get something else, Red Gold is the next best thing! At least they’re not using Hunt’s!!
Mr . JOHN says
It sounds like people are taking to much ketchup and the name brand is more money . That’s why it is a off brand ketchup taking it place . If people just have taken what they really need they probably would not change. Disney is trying to save money anyway they can to keep it making profits .
Stephanie says
But how does this different ketchup taste?
Debedo says
That’s it….I am done. I will be cancelling my vacation….
Linda Walker says
I like Red Gold better. It has a sweet taste to it. I wish they could keep it here.
brandon says
I didn’t have any trouble finding Ketchup the entire time I was there this week.
Where are you having trouble finding ketchup?
brandon says
Now as an adendum… I did not see Heinz. Just Bobo Ketchup. But whatever.
Darcy says
I’m from Indiana and only purchase Red Gold brand (support local company)! They also have great canned tomatoes, sauce, & paste. We actually prefer the taste over Heinz.
Mustard Man says
Here in the Heinz state of Pennsylvania, Most people I know are grabbing the red gold brand over Heinz… I Think Red Gold tastes better…or we are just tired of a lifetime of Heinz… so don’t panic people, you will survive the temporary shortage…
Tobias says
No HEINZ! No vacation! I take my HEINZ ketchup with me in my backpack. Better safe than sorry.
Carol says
I recently watched a YouTube video (in addition to all the DFB videos), where the commentator discussed the Red Gold brand change from Heinz. He made a point of saying it was due to Bob Chapek’s business association with Red Gold. I did not do any research behind his statement to verify its veracity, but DFB may want to.
