While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, we decided to grab an afternoon pick-me-up.
We stopped at the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge and something immediately caught our eye. We noticed that a cocktail we had previously tried seemed like it had gotten a little glow-up…or had it?! Of course, we decided to investigate.
We tried the Hollywood Lights cocktail over the holidays last year, and it was a pretty eye-catching drink! But, could it be true that it’s gotten a little makeover? In the menu photo, it looked a much different color than we remembered.
Here’s the drink from last year, just for reference. Our reporter was prettyyy sure it was a bit brighter now. But of course, we wanted to be SURE. So our team sat and debated it for like an hour, zooming in on photos and analyzing every. Little. Detail. That’s just a normal day in the life here at DFB!
Even though the ingredients appeared to be exactly the same, we eventually decided that the picture on the menu looked much more vibrant than the cocktail we remembered trying in November. So, we decided to give it another taste!
As it turns out, it IS brighter in-person now, just like it was on the menu! Phew! Our sleuthing skills paid off. We also noticed there was a pinker color — originally this cocktail was a lovely orange, and now it’s giving us sunset vibes.
We suspect this color change could be a result of adding more cranberry into the mix since there weren’t any actual ingredient changes. Plus, the drink still looked pinker than before once we took the glow cube out!
And by now we know what you’re thinking — how did it taste?? In our opinion, the drink tasted almost identical to the first time we tried it last year, though we suspect there may have been less pineapple flavor this time.
This is still a fairly sweet drink, and could be a good choice for those warm Florida nights. If you need us, we’ll be intensely scrutinizing other Disney snacks and drinks to see if they’ve changed at all 😂. After all, that’s what we do EVERY day for ya! We’re constantly debating, inspecting, and comparing to make sure we bring you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible.
