It’s looking to be an exciting summer in Disney World!
We’re getting closer to Disney World’s BIG 50th anniversary celebration, and the parks are filling up fast as the months get hotter! We previously told ya that you also get to look forward to the return of Disney’s Festival of the Lion King show this summer. And now, we’ve got an exciting update!
Disney previously announced that the Festival of the Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom would return this summer, in a “modified format.” Now, Disney World President Jeff Vahle has shared that the show will debut in mid-May! Guys, that’s next month.
The show will return with a bit of a new name: “A Celebration of The Festival of the Lion King.” That may be a nod to the slightly different experience guests will get! But Vahle added that the cast is back in rehearsals getting ready, and we could NOT be more excited to see them on stage again.
So…what can we expect once this show reopens? Well, Disney’s “modified format” includes adjustments both onstage and backstage, choreography changes to allow for social distancing, and changes to how the audience is seated. However, we’re sure the spirit of the show will remain, and we can’t wait to check it out for ourselves!
We’ll keep you posted once we know the official return date of this fan-favorite show! For now, other live entertainment like Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular remains unavailable. We’ll keep an eye out for updates on that too, so stay tuned to DFB!
