Disney’s left a few projects with some loose ends since reopening last year.
For example: WHEN will Space 220 open in EPCOT? Is Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser still opening in 2021? The list goes on. But good news! Today, we did get an update on one of these projects: Beatrix in Disney Springs.
Wayyy back in 2019, Disney announced that Beatrix would be opening a Disney Springs location! The coffeehouse + “healthy eating” restaurant combo paused construction in July 2020…and we haven’t heard much since then. That is, until now!
A representative for Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, which owns Beatrix, was able to confirm that the project has not been canceled. Instead, the start of construction has been delayed. The representative added that Disney and Beatrix agreed to return the property to “green space” until construction resumes, rather than leaving the site a construction zone.
As of now, Beatrix does not have a date for when construction is expected to resume. However, we’ll be sure to share any news once we receive it! We’re excited to have a healthy eating option in Disney Springs (although we’ll never say no to our favorite treats), so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for updates!

Our handy (and portable!) ebook guides make sure you get the best deals and can plan a vacation of a lifetime.

I found out something that may be the reason why the construction delays take so long at Disney. With the contracts there is a performance bond which must be paid by the contractor. During the pandemic, most if all construction at Disney by outside contractors was haunted or severely delayed…, and there were no provisions or language set within the contracts for such an event…so each performance benchmark was not met and all contracts were broken. Disney collected the performance bond and then all contracts needed to be renegotiated… some with the original contractor, some with new contractors, some with Disney’s internal non-profit construction entity. This delayed all projects and the guests lost out while Disney picked up all the bond money. Good deal for them.
Disney is not buildings because there is no money to finish and contractors have to still stay away from each other . Ken might be right because the contracts where signed before the pandemic . My guess is Disney is low balling the contractors Disney get smart you needed to finish tron. Contractors Disney isn’t going to give more money unless they have to . Th isamight take some time to figure out stay tuned .
