Happy (almost) Mother’s Day, DFB friends!
Disney’s been getting ready for the big day with plenty of present options and a TON of new sweet treats! And today, we’re stopping by Disney’s Beach Club Resort to try a new one.
If you’re in the mood for a tasty snack, you may want to grab the Sweeter Than Roses treat at The Market at Ale & Compass or Beach Club Marketplace! This elegant-looking dessert is a raspberry mousse on a chocolate hazelnut cake, with a ruby red raspberry center and chocolate fondant decorations.
It looks gorgeous, right?! But how does it TASTE? Well…it’s got its pros and cons. We were super excited to try this raspberry/hazelnut combo, but ultimately, that hazelnut taste was pretty nonexistent! However, the strong raspberry flavor wasn’t too sweet, so that’s a plus.
If you do try this, you’ll want to keep in mind that it melts FAST. As you can see, it gets kinda messy! We’d recommend eating it in the packaging it comes in, instead of trying to hold it in your hands. Trust us — we learned the hard way.
As for that mousse…well, it wasn’t our favorite. The texture was a bit off-putting, and we thought there was a bit too much of it.
If you’re a BIG raspberry fan, we’d recommend trying this treat for $5.79! But if you’re buying it for the hazelnut, you’ll want to skip. The flavor just isn’t there.
Now, while we were at Beach Club Marketplace, we noticed another new treat: Peaches Delight Macarons! So of course, we gave ’em a try, too.
This treat had a really nice crunch to it, kind of like a sweet cereal! The peach taste was subtle — in fact, we really got notes of strawberries.
The macarons themselves for a bit too chewy. Not, we’re all for a good ol’ chewy macaron, but these were a bit much.
However, we’d definitely pick this treat again over the cake! For $6.19, it makes for a tasty quick snack.
The Sweeter Than Roses treat will be available through May 9th. No word on how long the macarons will be available, but we’ll keep ya posted. There are plenty more Mother’s Day treats around Disney World and we’ll be trying ’em all, so stay tuned to DFB!
