This summer, runDisney’s Summer Virtual Series is inspired by The Lion King! Participants run in three virtual 5K races and receive a Lion King-themed medal for each!
If you’re running the races — or just need a new accessory for a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom — you’ll want to check out this new Lion King DIY headband that runDisney released in preparation for the virtual series!
Here’s what you need to know to make this stylish accessory!
What You’ll Need:
- runDisney’s Lion King-inspired art
- Craft Cutter (like a Cricut machine or even just an X-Acto knife!)
- 12″ x 12″ cutting mat (but honestly, a regular cutting board will also work)
- Iron-on vinyl
- Non-slip headband the color of your choice
- Weeding tool, scraper, and scissors
- Ironing board and iron
Step 1: Download the Lion King art from the link above and print it out.
Step 2: Using your Cricut machine or other craft cutter, cut the vinyl in the pattern of the art.
Step 3: Stick the vinyl to the cutting mat, shiny side down.
Step 4: Peel off the extra vinyl, using your weeding tool.
Step 5: Lay down your headband on the ironing board and arrange the vinyl design where you want it to be on the headband.
Step 6: Using a towel or some extra fabric, cover the vinyl and place the hot iron on top. Iron for 30 to 45 seconds on the non-steam setting.
Step 7: Remove the iron, peel off the backing from the vinyl, and check to make sure the pattern has stuck well!
Now that you have your new Lion King headband, you’re ready for the next 5K race or a trip to see the Festival of the Lion King Show at Animal Kingdom! Keep following DFB for more Disney DIYs!
