Except for a few flares and fireworks around the holidays, and some sporadic fireworks testing, we haven’t really seen a full fireworks show inside of a Disney World theme park for over a YEAR.
But, that is ALL ABOUT TO CHANGE! Fireworks will be returning to Disney World soon and we are EXPLODING (see what we did there?) with excitement!
When the parks reopened last year after the COVID-19-related closures, fireworks were suspended. At the time, Disney World shared that it was temporarily suspending its fireworks and other events that create crowds because of the concerns surrounding the pandemic.
But now, Disney World announced that nightly fireworks will be coming BACK to Disney World starting July 1st, 2021!
Fireworks are set to return to both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom on July 1st, 2021. In Magic Kingdom, guests will be able to enjoy Happily Ever After. For the time being, EPCOT guests will get to enjoy the EPCOT Forever fireworks once again.
A number of other things have been changing all over Disney World recently. Starting today, masks are optional in most places in Disney World for fully vaccinated guests.
We’ve seen distancing markers removed from many ride queues and even some pre-shows have become available once again.
Play areas are starting to reopen, some live shows have returned, and more restaurants are set to reopen soon.
We expect more changes will be on the way as Disney World continues to increase capacity, reduce distancing measures, and make other adjustments.
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates about the return of fireworks to Disney World and other changes being made all around the parks. Stay tuned for all the latest updates!

This is really great news! Is there any info about if / when the Happily Ever After fireworks dessert parties might return?

This brings such happy tears to my eyes! Last year at this time, we were looking forward to the parks reopening, and now one year later, we’re experiencing so many of the experiences that we enjoyed before COVID. Praise the Lord!

I was at Epcot two weeks ago and all of the fireworks barges are in the lagoon. Sadly, I overheard other guests complaining about how awful it looked. Maybe they ought to give it a chance…it might be incredible! With the size of what they have in the lagoon, it looks to be pretty spectacular!

So if masks are required for all unvaccinated guests, are all children under 12 still wearing masks everywhere except outside being that they are ineligible for a vaccine right now?
Ken says
It’s a start…
Chris says
Hope they have some special fireworks for the Boo Bash nights. We’re attending in October.
DFB Sarah says
Holly, that’s technically the rule, but our reporters tell me they’re not seeing kids wear masks, in general, unless their parents are also wearing masks.
DFB Sarah says
Ron, no word from Disney yet.
Judy says
So i M vaccinated do i have to wear a mask
DFB Sarah says
Judy, here’s some info on where masks are still required.
