We’ve been anticipating the debut of EPCOT’s new firework show Harmonious since it was announced in 2018!
And we won’t have to wait much longer! The show is set to premiere on October 1st, Disney World’s 50th anniversary. It’s one part of EPCOT’s historical transformation and is one of the largest spectaculars ever created for a Disney park! We’ve seen the barges and equipment in the World Showcase Lagoon over the past few months, but now we finally have a FIRST LOOK at the show!
Disney shared this video today showing some behind the scenes footage of Harmonious!
Disney says the show will “tell a story of global connection” that “illuminates our shared humanity.” A community of musical artists has reinterpreted familiar Disney stories and songs in their own voice to honor their respective cultures for the show.
We also learned that the show will move through 3 chapters, beginning with a sunrise as the “world awakens around us.” Then we’ll take a journey around the world from the “South Pacific home of “Moana” and a Middle-Eastern interpretation of “Aladdin” to “The Jungle Book” in India, China’s legend of “Mulan,” the European nations that inspired “Brave” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” and so much more.” Sounds pretty exciting!!
The show will feature floating set pieces that contain moving fountains, lights, lasers, and pyrotechnics. The pieces aren’t just for the show either, there will also be fountains in World Showcase Lagoon during the day! And we’ve already seen some of the water effects being tested.
We’ll be in EPCOT on October 1st for the grand debut of “Harmonious” to give you a full look at the new nighttime spectacular, so stay tuned for updates!

Not that it matters, as I am only the guest, but I was perfectly happy with seeing the old Epcot Fireworks show. I would say that the most spectacular and exciting fireworks I have ever seen has been at Disney, and Epcot. The lighted flaming ball with the pictures on it was groundbreaking in its day, and I always enjoyed the Epcot presentation, and I have seen it over 100 times… but the current show does not I’m-fess me at all. It ruined the look across the lake, it looks like a steel scrap junk yard in the middle of the pond, and I don’t need all the water fountain antics. I came for the fireworks. Disney did not learn its lesson from the Animal Kingdom water show, and now I will suffer from the new water show at Epcot. To bad.
The only complaint I have is that I wish the barges could be removed during the day… I think that would make everyone happier! Oh well…
I too will miss the original fireworks at Epcot!! That was always the highlight of our trip. So sad to see it go. I don’t care for all the fountains and lights. Just wanted to see magical fireworks same as before!!
