We’re just a few weeks away from the opening of the Star Wars Hotel (Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser) in March of 2022.
So far we’ve seen pricing for the hotel, heard about some of the experiences that will be on board, shared a sneak peek at the lightsaber training experience, and more. But today we got some BIG news about a special experience guests will get to enjoy while on the Starcruiser.
Earlier today Disney shared LOTS of details and full itinerary schedules for those staying at the Star Wars hotel.
These are available through the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Datapad function on the Play Disney Parks App. You will need a Galactic Starcruiser reservation to sign in and access this experience.
Once you do sign in and are able to access the info, you’ll see tons of details about what guests at the Star Wars Hotel will be able to do on each day of their trip. Keep in mind this is the itinerary shared for the trip we have booked and is subject to change.
There are a number of things listed on the itinerary that caught our eye, but one of the BIG things we noticed is that “CSL Starshow at Bespin” listed on Day 1 of the itinerary. It notes that it takes place from 9:45-10PM on the Atrium on Deck 6.
We tapped on that event to get more details. The description reads: “Nowhere are fireworks more dazzling than off-planet.” Hold up. Did that just say FIREWORKS?! On a Star Wars cruise-type experience that’s supposed to “transport” you to space with windows exclusively looking out to the stars (though there is an area where you can step outside for a bit).
The remainder of the description says that immediately following dinner, guests will get to enjoy a “special pyrotechnic display” that will “showcase the music of our featured performer on this cruise, the legendary singing sensation Gaya.”
If you’re not familiar with her, Gaya (whose name was previously spelled Gaia in some locations) is a diva and galactic superstar who will cruise along with you on the Halcyon. Her sneak peek was revealed by Imagineer Scott Trowbridge during a Destination D23 presentation.
We then also got a look at her during a promotional video shared about the Star Wars Hotel experience, which was then removed.
The atrium (as far as we understand it) is an interior space guests will step into when they arrive at the Star Wars Hotel.
Thus, we expect that the pyrotechnics will likely be shown on the screens within the space. Remember that the Star Wars Hotel experience is meant to transport guests to “space,” so there really won’t be opportunities to look out to the “real” world (that would break the story), except for an area where guests will be able to step outside. Still, the idea of seeing some kind of “fireworks show” on the ship is interesting and something we can’t wait to see in person.
Day 2 of the trip appears to also involve some pyrotechnics. On Day 2 again on the Atrium (Deck 6) from 9:30-9:45PM there’s something called “A Halcyon Starcruiser Celebration.” During this event, guests will get to “enjoy another awe-inspiring pyrotechnic display” which “features a very special musical soundtrack.”
We’ll definitely be on the lookout for more updates about the Star Wars hotel and we’ll let you know what we find. Stay tuned for more Disney news!
