Today is the day to celebrate Irish culture and eat LOTS of green food.
That’s right — it’s St. Patrick’s Day at Disney World! Although we’ve already tried our fair share of green snacks and drinks, including a VERY minty cupcake, an EXTREMELY green drink, a Mickey hat, and more, we’re heading to our beloved Gideon’s Bakehouse for MORE green treats — including GREEN CAKE.
Gideon’s has a couple of very limited-time offerings for this holiday. And by very limited, we mean they’re ONLY available today! The treats include a minty cake and some Andes Mint cake bites.
The cake is the very special Mega Mint St. Patrick’s Day Cake, made with three layers of vanilla cake and super mint green buttercream. It’s a very festive slice of cake and the flavor is VERY minty. Warning — if you don’t like SUPER minty flavors, this is not for you. But if you love mint, these cake slices are huge and perfect for sharing with other mint-lovers. The cake is soft and moist (like it always is at this bakery), and the bright green makes it a fun option if you’re looking for an Instagram-able treat!
We’re also trying out a Limited Edition Bite Bag featuring Triple Chocolate Salted Andes Mint Bites. These are cookie bites (yummy Gideon’s cookies inside!) dipped in chocolate and topped with green sugar crystals for just an extra touch of green. These are also a lot of fun, and you get plenty of them to share! Again, though, the chocolate and mint flavors are strong here, so if that’s not your thing, you’ll want to skip.
If you’re wanting to try these treats for yourself, you don’t have a lot of time. These are available TODAY ONLY at Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs. Also note that because this area will be busy today, the usual line at Gideon’s will be directed opposite of Gideon’s normal traffic flow, and sign-up for the virtual queue (if required), will be under the gargoyle.
We’ll be eating ALL the St. Patrick’s Day things at Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews!
