Today is the day, people!!!
We’ve rewatched the movies, listened to the soundtrack, and mentally prepared ourselves because Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT is officially open! This non-stop entertainment-filled attraction has been in the works for years, and guests can now enjoy all that it has to offer — IF they can get a boarding group or a Lightning Lane. That might prove to be rather difficult, as boarding groups for Cosmic Rewind were gone FAST this morning!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is using the virtual queue system, which means that EPCOT guests typically have 2 chances daily to join the queue using the My Disney Experience app — the first at 7AM and the second at 1PM. There is one BONUS opportunity for those who are eligible for Extended Evening Hours on select nights at 6PM as well.
On the morning of opening day, boarding groups filled up FAST! Just about 30 SECONDS after 7AM, one of our reporters shared that the My Disney Experience app was already showing 1PM as the next Virtual Queue enrollment start time. That meant 7AM boarding groups had already filled up by that time! WOW!
Once we booked, our estimated call back was for mid-afternoon and we were told our wait in line would be around 30 minutes once our group was called.
When Rise of the Resistance first opened with the virtual queue system, boarding groups were often sold out within seconds, so it seems that trend will likely continue here with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Remember that if you can’t get into the virtual queue there is another option — the Individual Attraction Selection (pay-per-ride option). This option opened up at 7AM for hotel guests and at park open for all other guests. But this is another one you’ll need speedy fingers for as the Lightning Lane option did sell out just in a matter of minutes.
We will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days, weeks, and months to give you the details on what your plan should be the morning you are trying to get on Guardians.
For now, be prepared to move those fingers QUICKLY if you’re hoping to snag a boarding group (or Lightning Lane) to experience this exciting new attraction, and click here for more details on the virtual queue for Cosmic Rewind.

“Seconds” My butt. More like fraction of a second.
Literally as soon as the 6:59 flipped to 7:00 I hit ho and it immediately said sold out.
Virtual queue to me is a failure. Once again need a smart phone and fast fingers. Poor Senior citizens are left in the lurch once again, and they are the ones with the money. Alienate them and your profits will continue to sink. Disney right now does not appear to be what Walt envisioned.
Have ya’ll ever tried having someone from home get the virtual queue? This has worked several times for my family, and it lets the vacationers relax a little bit.
