Is there really such a thing as going to Disney World TOO much?
You may have guessed our answer based on what we do for a living, but we don’t think so! However, if you’re trying to hit up the parks frequently these days, one big obstacle may stand in your way- the Disney Park Pass reservation system. The system has its own set of rules and limitations, and it can be frustrating to use sometimes. However, if you’re hoping to visit this weekend, making park passes just got easier for one select group!
When you purchase a Disney World annual pass, you’re given a set number of Disney Park Pass reservations that you can make at a time. (As long as you don’t have an onsite hotel reservation.) Whether you fall into the category of being able to hold 3, 4, or 5 reservations at a time, it can be challenging to plan in advance when you keep hitting that limit. Thankfully, Disney introduced the bonus reservation perk!
How do bonus reservations work? Well, when Annual Passholders log into their accounts to make reservations, days marked with a star on the calendar offer bonus reservations, which means that those park passes will not be included in your “count.” Typically, bonus reservations pop up a few days in advance for parks that aren’t booking up quite as quickly, and this weekend, both Animal Kingdom and EPCOT have been added as bonus reservations for Sunday, July 10th.
So even if you’re completely booked on park pass reservations currently, you can plan a visit to one of those two parks on Sunday! At the time of writing, reservations were also still available for the other two theme parks that day, although it’s likely this will change as we go into the weekend.
If you’re coming to Disney World in the next few months, we highly recommend that you book your park passes as soon as possible. It’s not uncommon for parks to fill up weeks or months in advance for popular dates, and we’ve even seen “regular” days booked up a couple weeks in advance. It’s not always easy to snag last-minute park passes.
Keep in mind that a Disney Park Pass reservation is required to visit any of the four theme parks in Disney World. If you’re planning on Park Hopping, you’ll need to make a reservation for your first park and scan your ticket there BEFORE you can hop to the second one after 2PM.
These new rules are just some of the changes that Disney World has made in the past few years, so make sure you’re following DFB for all the updates on Disney policies if you haven’t visited in a while!
