Hello from the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!
We hope you packed your stretchy pants, because we’re taking you through ALL of EPCOT to share everything this Festival has to offer. Between every menu for ALL of the Festival booths and all of the musicians you just might be able to catch at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, we’re telling you everything you need to know. Some of our favorite cheesy dishes have been found at this spot at past festivals, so let’s dig in and find out what the Germany Booth is cooking up this year!
Menu
We’re back at the Germany Booth to check out all the cheese, carbs, and beer this spot has in store this year! All of the food items on this menu are returning, but hey — if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?!
We’re talking Schinkennudeln, Roasted Brats in Pretzel Buns, and Apple Strudel, people! Of course, there are quite a few beers here as well like the returning Weihenstephaner Lager and the NEW Schöfferhofer Pineapple Hefeweizen.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the FOOOOD!
Eats
There’s a lot of returning favorites to try out here, so let’s dive in!
Pasta. Ham. Cheese. Onions. Schinkennudeln is on the menu once again at the Germany Booth! This is a pasta gratin with ham, onions, and cheese for $5. This snack is a winner for us almost every year. It’s creamy, cheesy, and the saltiness of the ham usually cuts through all that richness from the cheese. It’s also part of Emile’s Fromage Montage!
We’re happy to report that the Schinkennudeln is once again very good this year! It’s very savory and it has those bits of ham in it that you won’t find in the same dish at the table service restaurant in Germany, Biergarten, so that’s a plus if you’re a fan of ham! It’s also about the same size as the portion you get at Biergarten.
We DO wish there was more salt in here this year though. The saltiness is usually there from the ham, but the Schinkennudeln we tried at the booth this year just wasn’t salty enough to us. The best part of this dish is the crispy cheese you get on the sides because it’s the most flavorful! So, the edge pieces are going to be your best bet for a super tasty experience, just like with a pan of brownies.
What’s the Germany Booth without a Roasted Bratwurst on a Pretzel bun?! We don’t want to find out. We’ve tried this snack at many festivals in the past, and it’s a typically a very solid, classic bratwurst. You can grab this one for $5.75.
This year, the brat was fine, just fine — it’s the same as it usually is! It’s reliable and the brat is flavorful. Do note that it’s served at about room temperature (at least ours was!).
However, the pretzel bun was not so great this year. Ours was a little bit stale and it kind of crumbles in your mouth in a way you don’t want it to. It’s not as soft as we’d like for it to be, and for that reason we probably wouldn’t visit this booth JUST for the bratwurst, you know?
For dessert, you can get the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce for $4.25. This is one of our favorite treats year after year at the Food & Wine Festival. It’s not too sweet, and the buttery, flaky pastry is just **CHEF’S KISS**.
This year, the strudel is still very tasty! It’s not served super warm, though, so be aware of that (but at least you won’t have to worry about burning your tongue!). This comes with some chilled vanilla sauce on the side, which comes out of a squirt bottle before it’s served to you. This makes it totally look like mayo, but don’t worry, it IS yummy vanilla sauce!
Our serving of strudel was also about the same size as the one you get inside Biergarten, which is awesome, because it used to be kind of small in past festival years! This is a great treat for almost anybody, and we really think kids will enjoy it just as much as adults.
Is your mouth watering yet?! Let’s move on to drinks, then!
Drinks
Beer lovers, this is probably the booth you’ll want to visit! We tried the NEW Schöfferhofer Pineapple Hefeweizen. We’ve seen a similar Grapefruit Hefeweizen from this brewery, but the Pineapple version is new to the fest this year. You can get it for $5 for a 6 oz. or $9 for a 12 oz.
This was a really, really good beer — and that’s coming from our reporter who doesn’t even like beer! It’s light, refreshing, and super drinkable. You get that little bit of fruit flavor from the pineapple, but it’s not too tart or acidic like pineapple can tend to be. This is a solid beer even for people who don’t love beer or for people who just want a refreshing drink. But, if you prefer a beer with more hops like an IPA, this is not going to deliver on that front.
If pineapple isn’t your thing, you can also get the Gaffel Kölsch, which is also for $5 for a 6 oz. or $9 for a1 2 oz. When we had this beer last year, we found it to be pretty light, and it kind of reminded us of a Heineken!
There’s also the Weihenstephaner Lager, which is for $5 for a 6 oz. or $9 for a 12 oz. This one is another light beer we’ve enjoyed in years past.
You can also get all three beers in a flight for $10. And if you’re not a beer drinker, you can get the Selbach-Oster Riesling for $6.
Overall
When it comes to this cheesy, carbo-loaded booth, we really think it will appeal to almost everyone! Kids especially should love the Germany booth because of that Schinkennudeln, which is basically macaroni and cheese, and for that Apple Strudel. It’s also a great spot if you want some hearty food, so we wouldn’t stop here if you just want something light. Overall, the Germany booth is solid and reliable, and we would definitely visit again (as we have year after year!).
