If you love Disney movies, then you’re in luck — some HUGE movie news has been released!
A Disenchanted trailer is available, the release year for the Snow White live-action movie has been announced, and Pixar has shared details about their new Elemental film and confirmed Inside Out 2. But now Pixar has announced some MORE big news — a brand new movie!
ELIO is Pixar’s next original film! According to the team behind the movie, the main character of the film is Elio — a young boy who finds it “hard enough” just to get to his classes on time. And yet he someone becomes the first human to ever make contact with aliens!
Elio is 11 and lives on earth, and is creative, a dreamer, and an avid indoors man. But he can’t seem to figure out how to fit in. His mom is working on a project to decode a signal from space, but it ends up being Elio who (due to extraordinary circumstances) makes contact with the aliens and is beamed up to space!
Elio ends up at what is essentially the intergalactic United Nations of advanced alien species. Elio then accidentally becomes our planet’s ambassador to the universe. Earth’s fate will rest on whether Elio can fight through self-doubt and show that the best part of being human is just being yourself (even if that feels a little “alien” to everyone else).
According to Disney, the movie will star America Ferrera as Olga Solis (Elio’s mom) and Yonas Kibreab as Elio! It’ll be directed by Adrian Molina and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, and will land in the theaters March 1, 2024.
You can hear a bit more about the movie from its cast in the video below!
