Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a brand-new land soon. Monsters, Inc. land will feature two attractions: a first-of-its-kind suspended roller coaster that will take you through the iconic Monsters, Inc. Laugh Factory and recreate the doors chase scene in the first Monsters, Inc. movie, and an unknown theater show.

Ever since Monstropolis was announced back in 2024, Disney fans everywhere have been asking one thing: What will move into the former home of Muppet*Vision 3D? If you’re thinking the same question, then today is your lucky day. Disney just announced what’s coming to the Glob Theater! 

Disney just announced that the Glob Theater will feature a theatrical show that will welcome guests to Monstropolis. This show will feature a brand new song by Randy Newman called “Welcome to Monstropolis,” which is also the name of the show.  This will be the first song he’s written for a Disney Park, so that’s pretty exciting! We also got concept art for the new show…and it looks like it’s going to be QUITE a big welcome!

The show will be hosted by Mike and Sulley. According to Chris Beatty, Vice President, Walt Disney Imagineering, “Sulley has been working on a small, homespun show, but Mike – ever the showman – has a few surprises up his sleeve that he thinks will bring down the house. Hopefully not literally.” Yeah, that doesn’t sound ominous at all. We can imagine that chaos — and hilarity — will ensue.

The Glob Theater!

Monsters, Inc. Land will also feature Disney’s very first suspended coaster, which will put you right in the middle of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor as you ride a door. A suspended roller coaster is one where you sit in your seat while your legs dangle off the ground. The seat is attached to the track above your head instead of under your seat!

Walt Disney Imagineering shared a video with some amazing renderings of the upcoming coaster. You can see the coaster being lifted off the ground! We’ve never seen anything quite like this before. It’s the world’s first! This helps eliminate the need for a vertical hill in the coaster, making it different from other coasters.

Finally, Disney revealed it would be opening the new land in phases, with the first part of the new land opening as soon as 2027 while Disney continues work on the door roller coaster! BRING IT ON!
