Okay, so when we say “pool bar,” you’re probably not thinking about where to get the best drinks in Disney World, right?
But here’s the thing, many Disney World pool bars are way better than they deserve to be, and some have drinks that have us always coming back for more. One of those pool bars is the Uzima Springs Pool Bar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, where we just sipped on three drinks — for science!
You’ll find Uzima Springs Pool Bar near the Uzima Pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House. The bar is under a thatched roof and is surrounded by all that green and lush tropical foliage. Although you could sit near the pool to enjoy your drink, we recommend you make your way over to the far edge of the pool to enjoy that drink while watching some animals on the savannah.
The menu here has a good selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including the EARidescent Sip-a-bration, Ginger Beer, and Smoothies. You can also get beer, and this bar also boasts a selection of African wines. There are plenty of Frozen Cocktails to enjoy, too, as well as Specialty Cocktails. We started with the boozy Blueberry Lemonade for $15.50.
This lemonade is made with Three Olives Blueberry Vodka, Bols Blue Curaçao, and Minute Maid Premium Lemonade with Juices of Lemon and Pomegranate topped with Sprite. Is it as refreshing as it seems? YES! It’s very well-blended and the vodka doesn’t overpower the flavors of blueberry and pomegranate (which are a GREAT combo). BUT we barely even tasted the lemonade, so is this really lemonade?
Next up was the Safari Mudslide for $16.50, made with Amarula Cream Liquor, Kahlúa Liquor, Snow Leopard Vodka, blended with Vanilla Ice Cream. Holy moly, y’all. If you love creamy drinks, this one is a DELIGHT. The African Amarula Cream Liquor really stands out and blends So well with the vodka that it doesn’t even taste like alcohol.
The ice cream on top is the PERFECT touch that takes this drink up even a notch. You get that little bit of added sweetness and that whipped cream. It’s a dessert you can drink! If you don’t like sweet drinks, though, this might be something you’ll want to skip.
Finally, we tried one of the non-alcoholic options, the Lava Smoothie for $5.99. It’s made with Raspberry Purée blended with flavors of Coconut and Pineapple. This is the PERFECT drink that everyone can sip on while at the pool or watching the animals on the savannah. It’s light and creamy and very coconutty (so be sure you like coconut flavors before you order).
The hints of raspberry come through (they’re mostly on the bottom, so give this one a good stir). This is a great option when you don’t want an alcoholic beverage, but still want something refreshing and fun. Also, this drink is identical to the Lava Smoothie you can get at the pool bar at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
So if you’ve got a stay coming up at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, don’t miss out on the pool bar! While you’re there, be sure to check out all the great dining at the hotel, too, including Sanaa, Boma, and Jiko — The Cooking Place!
