In case you haven’t heard, the classic Disney World attraction, Splash Mountain, recently closed on January 22nd, 2023.
Fans and Cast Members alike were there to bid the ride adieu, buy the last souvenirs, and wait in long, long lines for one last splash down the mountain. But, it looks like some fans took their devotion to the next level and appeared to have saved some of the water from the ride’s final day — and now you can BUY it online (because of course you can!).
You can shop for TONS of rare pieces of Disney merchandise online — from items used in attractions, vintage clothing, home goods, and more. Last year, we saw this Disney resale market break into mass chaos when the Figment Popcorn Bucket was released, resold, and proceeded to garner HUGE prices on eBay. Later, even a drawing of the Figment Popcorn Bucket was listed for sale (the proceeds eventually went to charity!).
And now, just when we thought we had seen it all — something else comes along that makes us really scratch our heads. Resellers are listing and selling “Splash Mountain Water” on eBay!
Most of the listings claim that the water was somehow removed from the attraction on the ride’s last day. So far, we’ve seen some priced as low as $4, with some listings reaching $1,000+ — though most appear to be around the $20-$25 range.
You’ll find the “Splash Mountain Water” comes in a variety of receptacles, but from what we can tell — there’s no real way to authenticate whether or not this water actually came from the classic attraction. So, if you’re looking to purchase a piece of history, keep in mind that you might be buying tap water from someone in New Jersey who put it in a jar and wrote “Splash Mountain” on it.
We’ll continue to bring you updates from Splash Mountain’s transformation, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
