Lots of big technology changes have been taking place in Disney World over the past few years, and we’re adding another to the list!
We’ve seen the rollout of things like MagicMobile, My Disney Experience, MagicBand+, and Genie+, but now Disney World is in the process of bringing “Hey, Disney!” to hotel rooms across the property. The service, which works with Alexa on Amazon Echo devices, might be available for you on your next vacation, and we’re uncovering some of its coolest features and secrets!
Restocking Amenities
For starters, one thing that you may find VERY useful that Hey, Disney! can do for you is restock your hotel amenities. You can simply say “Hey, Disney! Can we have some extra towels?” to get more sent up to your room!
Requests will work for other things like blankets, pillows, and toiletries as well, so don’t hesitate to ask if you’re out of something you need. No more calling the front desk or flagging down a housekeeping cart!
Theme Park Information
Heading to the parks during your stay? Hey, Disney! can answer a bunch of questions about the theme parks. Simply ask what time EPCOT opens or when the fireworks are happening at Magic Kingdom to get started on planning your day before you even leave your room.
These are questions that you can find the answers to in the My Disney Experience app, but sometimes it’s just easier to ask the Alexa device and get your answer ASAP.
Transportation Details
If you’re wondering when you can catch the next bus to the parks, Hey, Disney! can help with that as well. Simply ask about whichever park bus you’re planning on riding, and you’ll get an estimated departure time for the shuttle from your hotel.
This’ll help minimize waiting at your resort bus stop — you’ll know if it’s time to kick things into gear or if you have time to leisurely make your way outside.
Weather
And like many Alexa devices, you can ask about the weather! Temperatures in Florida can vary drastically in the winter, and in the summer, you’ll definitely want to be prepared for that rain forecast.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell what to really expect from the weather when that Florida sun is shining outside your window, so this will make sure that you get dressed for maximum comfort.
Magical Bonus Features
And finally, we’ve got to talk about some of the bonus features that are just for fun! Hey, Disney! will feature a variety of character voices from Star Wars, Pixar, The Muppets, and more. So you might get the weather from Olaf or hear the Wookie roar of Chewbacca. How fun!
You can also ask your virtual assistant to tell you a joke, play Disney trivia, or play a soundscape that transports you into the worlds of your favorite characters. There is a whole collection of Disney-themed bedtime stories as well.
“Magic Moments” will let you and your little one go on fun adventures with your favorite characters, and you might find that you get special messages from some of those characters in your inbox throughout your visit. All in all, there are more than a THOUSAND “magical interactions” that you can discover!
Currently, Hey, Disney! is available only at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, with a phased introduction planned at the other Disney World hotels. You’ll be able to mute and unmute the device in your hotel room as needed, and eventually, MagicBand+ will be able to interact with the kiosk in your room.
We’re excited to check out Hey, Disney! more in the future, so stay tuned to DFB for more details as it’s launched throughout the resorts. And in the meantime, we’ll keep you updated with any more Disney World news.
