Levitating droids are here!
If you’ve been excited about the levitating droids on their way to Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll be thrilled to hear this update. We got a look at what those levitating droids may look like working behind the snack cart, and were VERY impressed!
Disney is working to make its parks even MORE technologically advanced in the coming years.
Galaxy’s Edge
We’ve seen groundbreaking animatronics and innovative rides, but the goal is to step up and do MORE before Disneyland Abu Dhabi opens down the line, as that park is going to be Disney’s most technologically-advanced yet. As part of that initiative, Disneyland Park will soon be getting snack carts operated by hovering droids!
For better or worse, Disney World is always changing. That’s clear to anyone visiting right now, as massive projects like Piston Peak, Monstropolis, and Tropical Americas dominate the landscape. However, Disney’s not done.
Something is being added!
A recent report on some new technologies Disney is working on sheds light on the kind of things we may see coming to the resort in the years to come. It’s given us an idea as to what the company could do with a massive area in the middle of Animal Kingdom that’s been sitting abandoned for ages.
We are absolutely fascinated by the incredible technological advances that Disney continues to make.

From updating animation styles to creating animatronic figures and ride technology for the parks, they’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to bring entertainment to life. And now? They’re building dolphin robots and car-sized manta rays.
Disney is always pushing the boundaries of technology as to what it can do in its parks and with its experiences. This is how we got such groundbreaking rides like Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is also why we’ve got cute little robots wandering around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Well, Disney is continuing to expand what it can do with technology, and a new patent just filed by the company could hint at what some of its future rides might look like.
For many of us, especially kids, Disney is our happy place…that place we go to in our minds when we’re stressed out and need a break from it all. And when you’re in a medical environment, feeling that is even more important.

Getting an MRI can be stressful, especially for a child who may not understand what’s going on. That’s why Disney has partnered with Philips to make MRIs less stressful for kids and make it a more pleasant experience.
Technology in theme parks is a beautiful thing, and like Disney, Universal keeps pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. From the incredible animatronics created for Monsters Unchained in Epic Universe’s Dark Universe to being able to literally pet Toothless IN PERSON in How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, great technological ideas have made these things happen.
Mine-Cart Madness
Well, Universal continues to come up with new ideas on how to use technology in theme parks. And we can get an idea of what kind of technology Universal might be working on just by looking at patents the company has filed. Well, a new patent hints at a type of ride that could include an animal crawling around on it.
There may not be a hotter topic on the planet right now than the use of artificial intelligence, or AI. There has recently been a lot of blowback against generative AI, in particular, which is often accused of illegally using copyrighted materials. This has even resulted in some legal actions. For example, both Disney and Universal have filed a lawsuit against Midjourney, a generative AI tool, over copyright infringement.

Then there are the environmental concerns, especially with the large amounts of energy and water that AI data centers need to operate. However, it seems like, despite the controversy, AI is here to stay. In Disney’s case, the company recently doubled down on its commitment to embracing technology, including AI tools, more aggressively.
When it comes to Disney news, there is quite a bit to keep up with these days! The company just announced a new CEO, and the theme parks are expanding at a rate we haven’t seen in a long time.
