I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World for over 30 years, and during that time, I’ve developed conflicted feelings about World Showcase. On one hand, I love strolling the back half of EPCOT, exploring all the nooks and crannies of each country, and enjoying their food and drink offerings. However, the area also makes me wistful when considering how stagnant it’s been over its history. Since EPCOT opened in 1982, only two countries have been added to World Showcase – the most recent being Norway almost 40 years ago – and this century has seen one new attraction plus two refurbishment transformations in the last 25 years. That’s not say Imagineers haven’t tried, however, as countless new pavilions, attractions, and rides have been proposed over the years, only to go unbuilt. These are just some of those canceled projects.

D23 is almost here!

This huge Disney event will begin on August 9th in Anaheim, California, and will feature Disney executives, panels, entertainment, and TONS of announcements. At these big events, we typically expect some exciting news from the company. We may hear about new lands, new rides, new shows, new entertainment, and so much more. While this is what all of us Disney fans get excited about each year, it may be important to point out that not ALL these announcements always come true. Why Fans Don’t Trust the Concept Art for Disney’s Mega Magic Kingdom Expansion

Disney World has seen a lot of changes over the past few years!

In Magic Kingdom, Tron Lightcycle / Run has been added to Tomorrowland, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been added to Frontierland. Recently, EPCOT just completed its multi-year transformation with the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza. Even more, change is coming to Disney World, as projects for the Dinoland U.S.A. re-theme in Animal Kingdom and Beyond Big Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom are currently in the works.

Magic Kingdom has A LOT going on right now! We are expecting lots of new things including a new Country Bear show called Country Bear Musical Jamboree and a new smelling experience coming to Storybook Circus. 

We noticed something missing from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!

And, of course, we’ve got Tiana’s Bayou Adventure coming right up! However, we noticed that Disney World has changed something major between the original concept art and today for this attraction…let’s take a look.

$60 billion is a big chunk of money, so what exactly is Disney planning to do? We have heard of the Blue Sky projects that were mentioned at D23 as well as DisneylandForward. 

We know that Walt Disney once said “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world”, but what exactly could this mean for the future expansion of the parks? It might not be exactly what you are thinking!
