Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, has confirmed he will be stepping down from the position in 2026. The hunt for the next leader of the company has been “robust” with a few names leading the pack. As the time for the announcement draws closer, it seems like the search might be down to two names.

The Disney Parks around the world are getting some major overhauls, a brand-new Disney park is in development, the cruise line is expanding, and that’s just scratching the surface. While all of those announcements feel pretty big, there’s one major change on the horizon that will impact the entire company for years to come.
Few companies have CEOs who draw as much attention (and criticism) as The Walt Disney Company’s Bob Iger. Iger has been a top Disney executive for decades, assuming the role of CEO in 2005. Iger rose to popularity with wins like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, left his position as CEO, handed the reins over to Bob Chapek, and returned (ousting Chapek) in 2022 with a new goal to find a worthy successor before retiring in 2026.

When he returned, he made it clear that his leadership within the company wouldn’t last forever. However, he did promise that he would be involved in the search and training of his successor — the person who would take over as CEO after Bob Iger’s (updated) contract ends in 2026. Bob Iger’s successor is a major concern not only for Disney fans, but for company stakeholders and investors in The Walt Disney brand.
