In late 2025, Disney announced a deal with OpenAI to use that company’s Sora AI content creation tool to create short-form content for Disney+. However, that deal fell apart when OpenAI announced that it had plans to shutter Sora.

Well, Disney has gone in another direction, and instead of using an AI tool to create short form content for its streaming service, Disney has now announced a partnership with TikTok, which has pretty much become the King of short-form video content.
According to Deadline, Disney has cut several hundred jobs, with Pixar and National Geographic being the most affected.

This report comes shortly after ESPN let go of staffers as a result of a deal with the NFL. A person familiar with the situation told Deadline that staffers at Disney Entertainment Television and Studios have been notified of the layoffs.
