The Walt Disney Company has been providing products, entertainment, and experiences to people for over 100 years. It is no stranger to the world of entertainment.

When a company is around for that long, it develops a strong reputation — especially with a company as big as Disney! And it’s no secret that Disney is a company filled with devoted fans, yet equally filled with critics. Every year, we like to check on the Axios Harris reputation rankings, just to see where Disney ranks amongst other major businesses. We have the results this year, and it looks like Disney has taken some steps backwards…again!

Disney Reputation Takes Major Hit, According to New Survey

Disney has been facing a number of challenges in recent months and it’s not going unnoticed by the general public.

From the departure of its previous CEO (and the return of Bob Iger) to losses in the streaming world and an ongoing battle with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, it seems the battles never end. And now we’re getting a better idea of just how some of those battles may be impacting Disney’s reputation.

Disney’s Reputation is DROPPING Fast According to New Survey

Disney has been no stranger to public battles lately.

From the situation with Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill (what critics called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill) and the resulting response from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, to the repeal of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, threats made against copyright law that protects some of the Company’s key characters, and calls for a repeal of Disney’s no-fly zones — Disney’s name has seldom escaped the news recently. And now it seems Disney’s corporate reputation has taken a hit.

Boycotting Disney Isn’t New. But Does It Work?

Video of a gathering of protesters chanting “Boycott Disney” outside Disney headquarters on April 6 has now been viewed more than 1.1 million times. Thousands more people are sharing posts on social media calling for a boycott. A letter recently published in the Wall Street Journal was signed by grandparents stating they had canceled a trip to Disney World with their grandson, and they are “ashamed to be stockholders.”

The latest movement to boycott Disney comes after the corporation issued a statement saying it would seek to have Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” law by its critics, repealed by the Florida Legislature or struck down by the courts.
