Disney is NOT slowing down when it comes to construction and you need to be prepared!
Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana is making progress in EPCOT, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is slowly coming together in Magic Kingdom, and there is lots of work going on over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. But recently we spotted ANOTHER construction project that has popped up — this time, over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Before we hop into the update if you’re planning to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom soon, check out our FREE checklist! It covers the entire park and will help you make the most of your trip while there. Click below to download it.
Alright, so just what construction is going on? Well, as we strolled through Animal Kingdom we encountered some unexpected construction walls that had popped up in the Africa section of the park.
Generally, things in the area were still accessible. The walls just made one particular walkway narrower — so be prepared for some congestion here if you hit it during a peak time.
We spoke with a Cast Member who said that they believed the work being done in this area is just a touch-up of some facades — nothing major. Granted, this is just what we were informed by one Cast Member but we’ll keep an eye out for updates.
Still, these walls are something you’ll want to be aware of and prepared to encounter on upcoming trips until the construction is all done.
And in case you’re wondering, yes, even the construction signs are themed! You can see that it comes from the “ministry of public works” for “Harambe.”
Interestingly, this doesn’t seem to be the only work happening in Animal Kingdom. Back in May, we spotted a permit filed for work at an address that seemed to tie to Harambe Market. The work was “general construction” to be done by Carter Electric. That is likely not related to these construction walls whatsoever but it is interesting to see what other work is going on in the park.
We’ve also spotted permits relating to multiple kiosks within the DinoLand U.S.A. area, and even some for electrical work at the Expedition Everest restrooms. It seems the work at Disney is neverending!
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more construction all throughout the parks and let you know what we see.
