There is a LOT of amazing food in EPCOT, but there’s about to be even MORE amazing food.
That’s because a new restaurant is set to open sometime this summer! That restaurant is in the Japan Pavilion in World Showcase, and it’s called Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya. This new location, described by Disney as a “festive dining experience in a sharable Izakaya style” could now be even CLOSER to opening.
The new restaurant will be a table-service restaurant with a casual Japanese pub theme (Izakya) where small dishes meant to be shared are served. The restaurant will also celebrate Japan’s seasonal festivals, with each month bringing a new celebration to diners’ tables while a cultural representative guides them through the experience.
The menu will feature classic Japanese items like sushi and teppan, and will even include an open sushi bar where you can watch the chefs prepare the sushi right in front of you.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the construction of the restaurant. Here’s the thing; Tokyo Dining has been closed for refurbishment since December 2022. There have been construction walls where the restaurant was located.
Well, today, we got additional confirmation that Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya will be replacing Tokyo Dining in that location. Why do we say this? Well, the Tokyo Dining sign by Mitsokoshi (the big department store in the Japan pavilion) has been replaced with the Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya sign.
The construction walls are still up, though, in that location, so we still don’t know exactly how much this dining location will change or how different it will look when it reopens as Shiki-Sai.
However, we will be keeping an eye on it, as well as an eye out for full menus AND an official opening date, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
