We’ve got some news straight from Magic Kingdom!
From weather-related closures to refurbishment updates, we see rides close in Disney World pretty often. Recently, parts of Florida have been dealing with Hurricane Idalia for the past few days, and Disney World has not been spared from the weather. While the parks didn’t close, certain experiences outside of them did, and many outdoor rides could not run while the storm was happening. In the midst of the bad weather, one classic ride just reopened after its temporary refurbishment. Let’s take a look!
During our recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we confirmed that the Liberty Belle Riverboat in Liberty Square was back open, pending weather following a nine-day closure.
This meant that the boat was open at that time, but if the weather turned unsafe, it would close to protect the Cast Members and guests. The ride was closed from August 21st through the 29th for scheduled maintenance.
It’s not uncommon to see water rides go down for regular maintenance in Disney World. Even though rides are made to withstand the water, they do tend to need some TLC rather often.
If you’re traveling to Disney next year, keep in mind that some of your favorite rides could already have closures scheduled, and others may be announced in the coming months. We’ll keep you updated on all the latest, so stay tuned to DFB!
